Keyboard settings.
Hi all,
Can anyone kindly share some good keyboard settings?
I play in keyboard and I am not able to play the game at all.

1 - Dont hold steering, throttle or brake, learn to fast tap the keys.
2 - Dont know how it is configured by default (or how you are used to at other games) but dont use throttle and brake along with steering on the same hand (split brake/throttle/gearing/handbrake to 1 hand, steering for the other).

I played DR1 for a time at keyboard alone (and I was used to play racing games with this configuration). Try this:
A - turn left
D - turn right
K - throttle
J - brake
L - handbrake
O - downshift
U - upshift
I - change camera
N - ESC (PAUSE)

And try to be "gentle" with your inputs, also just because it is rally dont mean you have to use handbrake all the time.

Yeah, and it's still garbage compared to wheel with all the "help." Your guy can only turn the wheel 90 degrees beyond a certain speed, so you can't make sharp turns at all unless you're driving slow.
It, and the lack of feeling, imo, makes it harder (also I dont know if there would be a setting that allow for more steering at high speeds, but on wheel if you turn too much with too much speed you would just go wide or straight then offtrack or to a wall/rock/tree ... dont know if certain limitation on gamepad/keyboard would be because of that).
True. At high speeds that does happen. But what I've noticed is that often there are turns that I *could* make and not spin out, but the game doesn't let me because it has hit the max speed before that 90 degree lock kicks in, so sometimes I just drive into a wall because my guy refuses to turn the wheel more.

Is there no "sensibility setting" to change for that?

There is a setting for steering wheel (as stupid as it may sound but it is an option, maybe for people that dont care about realism or going faster also just want a more pleasant driving with weaker or no FFB) that do exactly that, it locks you from turning more than 5° to 10° when over 120km/h at rF2 (and I know it exists because the game changed settings on itself) and suddenly not even karts I could not drive properly anymore.
I turned this option off, I could drive again.

Check if that is not a "speed sensitivity" option or something like that locking your steering wheel when at higher speeds.

I play dirt rally 2 with my keyboard, but it is not easy for me, not at all.

Dirt 4 or wreckfest are more keyboard-friendly-games.

My 4 cents though...

Considering Dirt 4 is arcade and Dirt Rally 2.0 is a simulator, it is expexted that DR 2.0 is harder than Dirt 4.

Spain is a nightmare with digital input, but the rest I can handle okay. Spain seems like it requires a lot of smooth turning, which is a nightmare with tapping with the super grippy tarmac of this game.

In fact I find the tarmac at DR 2.0 to be more slidey than other sims.

Ah, it just means that your game came with different tarmac.

i have tried the controller now, and it is slightly better than the keyboard,
definitely more control in the turns.
But the learning curve is steep, i must say.

More control in corners, I agree, but to me it's impossible to recover from a slight loss of control during incredibly fast straights or to make small accurate adjustments during them. For this I feel d-pad tapping is much better.

EDIT: I'm talking about using the analog stick, of course, which I assume you're talking about here too. That being said, of course a controller has the advantage of having analog throttle and braking too, which helps.

No, it just means the tarmac at DR 2.0 is more slidey than tarmac at ACC, AMS2, rF2 . . . AC, AMS1 . . .

For the other inputs such as triggers for throttle control, sure, but I disagree about the sticks.

I have an Xbox 360 controller, but I use the tapping method with d-pad because the analog stick is impossible to micromanage high speed steering with. Analog control is total ♥♥♥♥ because the range isn't enough; you always steer too much or not enough, and when you're going fast, one accidental full push of the stick in either direction, and you're flying off the track into outer space because your rear will start sliding. When you d-pad tap, one input won't destroy you (with about 80 sensitivity), and it's also easier to control overall.

I'd rather use keyboard even. Tapping allows for quite precise steering, though still not nearly as precise as wheel. My times improved a lot instantly when I stopped using analog.
What I like to do with the analog is push and hold it forward, then steer. It gives a bit more range and friction, you can be lot more precise that way instead of pushing it left/right. But it does cut a groove on the stick.
