Why not?
Why not just keep developing this game even more when this game is unbeatable? :)

Because they seem to be working on Dirt Rally 3.0.

From 2023 they will have the WRC license.

I see:) But in the meantime, then.
I do look forward to more Dirt Rally. The licenses is really a big issue. Hopefully they can land the WRC 2023. If not, one could always work on recreating IRL stages, no doubt. The geodata is up there for grabs. Most is open data, but for some stages one might have to invest in the geodata, I'm not really sure why people want the licenced cars over the real stages? Cars = big expenses. Geodata = free.

Anyhow, looking forward to DR3 since WRC10 was a big letdown (again).

geodata isn't exactly free, they still need to go there and collect data, but I will take it as a mental shortcut. It's always good to see stages which are detailed, especially road surface is importand
Cars are impotrant for me, I like to drive some legendary cars, but also important are their physics, way how they feel, this must give fun. Also a wide selection of cars means that I do not feel the lack of current ones

For me WRC10 isn't letdown becuse I didn't expected too much :steammocking:
I seen only revievs where they said "bit better than previous", I had the opportunity to play WRC8 and this bit better clearly isn't enough for me to buy it...
Well, you're correct about detailed geodata - in some circumstances. The price-tag varies as well as the quality. At my place we get laser-data with 1m resolution that could serve as a good base for building real stages. Also, vector data for roads/facilities and land use are quite easy to come by today. It varies across the globe, but still, it is mostly very accessible (no need to go there and collect elevation models or stage layout).

That said, it will naturally require a lot of work to make it look like a real stage. It is a mystery to me why the game industry is not using more free (state funded) GIS-data. It is a goldmine, and the terrain modellers would have a good basis for their work. ':-)

I suspect they will bring Dirt Rally 3.0 and in 2023 the game will have a different name.

Dirt Rally WRC or FIA World Rally Championship !?

I'm already waiting for Dirt Rally 3.0. :-))))))))))

I tried the demo of WRC 10.

Accelerator and brake worked, only my Thrustmaster T150 steering wheel didn't.

Deleted and done.
Well, I tried WRC 10 too, was not my cup of tea.
DR2 is absolutely fantastic in VR and can only get better.

Personally although I have loved most of the Rally games over the years, especially DR2.0 I do think it's time someone gave us a break and brought a new Toca/Touring car game.

I feel I've rally'd to death right now :-/
I love dirt rally, but I'm not a fan 9f them getting the wrc license, the wrc games are just starting to get good, and I don't want dirt rally to lose its essence and just become another game with official cars/ drivers etc and overpriced yearly releases. It's not good that codemasters got the wrc licence and then ea bought codemasters.. That means ea now has a complete monopoly on rally Sims. And ea is ea.. Not good.
^^good point!
indeed, if codemasters never got the license, we would've still gotten dirt rally 3 which would most likely be good, and we would probably see wrc series getting better with time, it would give as more good really games to maybe breath some life into this dying genre.
DR 2.0 is an explosion of how to experience Rally in VR. It is so immersive and robust that it should go on with that focus. Unfortunately, it may not bring in the money (a few passionate rally fans(?) vs the big mass console users demanding wrc content.

Nobody knows what direction it will take, but I sure hope CM continue to support the DR concept and don't get distracted by licensing. If they can do both - fine! :)
If it takes off sideways, I hope I can continue to enjoy DR2 for many years to come.
