How do I upgrade my edition?
So, I got this game awhile ago from Humble Bundle, and now that there's a sale on and I have a better computer, I thought now was a good time to play it.

One problem, however. I own the base game and three random cars from Humble... and thus it won't let me purchase the GotY Edition (containing Season 1-4, which I presume would be most of the DLC). And none of the DLC is on sale, nor is there an option to purchase it in a bundle.

Is there any way to get the Season 1-4 content at a discount? Because if not... that's a lost sale, because there's no way I'm spending $140 CAD on all the DLC individually. Giving consumers with the base version of the game a way to upgrade to the full version is basic gaming marketing.

EDIT: I found the Season 1-4 Pass in the DLC... but it's MORE expensive than the GotY. I suppose I could have Steam Support delete the game from my account...

At your own discretion that is a possible way to go. But you know this is not an intended path to take and it relies on the well-meaning and timeliness of the steam-support to let you successfully complete the operation before the time-window for the discount closes. This is human-malware times we are in right now, so your mileage may vary greatly.

If that hassle + risk is worth the ~5 rubels you are aiming to save, by all means: it might just work for you, this time -- as there have been others reporting their success in persuing this operation before. But be aware this is not risk-free.

Buy the GOTY edition somewhere that's not Steam, it will activate correctly and you'll have all DLC including the Colin McRae pack. I just did that a minute ago.

But it's not on a 75% sale elsewhere, so what's the point. I think I'll use the delete game method. If it doesn't work, then I haven't lost anything; the game was free to begin with.

I paid 10 euros. It's less than the 75% discounted price on Steam, so I was ok with that.

Just remove your current copy of 2.0 from your steam account and then buy the GOTY Edition. I just did this as I was in the same position, having already got the humble bundle a while back.

Starting last December, permanently deleting the game does not remove it from purchase history. The Steam store will only offer you to reactivate your old key and force you to re-download all of the game files again.
3rd party key added to your account will auto upgrade without having to remove your existing game.

This seems crazy that the cheapest solution is to remove the game from your account, and re-buy the discounted GOTY edition! We're in 2020, there has to be a better solution - discount the DLC or give us the option to upgrade to the GOTY!

what did you to then? ? Should i remove my game and rebuy it in goty edition?

The OP already alluded to this, for those who already own only the base game:
https://store.steampowered.com/sub/388533/

It's not on sale, but this YOP doesn't cost very much more than the GOTY edition.
Yeah, I selected 'remove from my Steam Library', then bought the GOTY edition, because the pass itself wasn't on sale (costing $22 CAD), but the GOTY was (costing $17), a $5 CAD difference. Didn't 'lose' anything since I got the game free from Humble. If you're not buying on sale and you already own the base game, just get the Y1-4 Pass for $22 CAD or your regional equivalent.

i also bought the goty, strange thing is it seems like i haven't the season pass 3+4 :/

It's just more of the fumblebuckery that is DR2's purchase options on Steam. Don't worry Leferry, if you bought GOTY you now own everything there is to own for the game. (To convince yourself, just race in Finland. If you can load Finland, you have Season 3/4.)

Was about to ask the same thing. Got Dirt Rally 2.0 from Humble, recently installed it since I bought a nice Ultrawide 3440x1440p.

So the GOTY Edition is on sale for 13,74€ but the Year One Pass with all for seasons of content is not on sale and costs 19,99€.
The "Deluxe Pack" with Seasons 3 and 4 costs 11,99€.

I don't really get it. The Full DLC Pack should cost the difference between the base version of the game (8,xx) and the GOTY (13,74€). I mean, this way you screw over customers who bought your game earlier?

So I have to remove the game from my steam library and re-buy the GOTY?

This can't be real.

Googled a bit, to confirm it's the only solution.

So I removed Dirt Rally 2.0 from my library via the support page.
Bought the Game of the Year Edition for 13,74€.
Works, is in my library, still installed, and all DLC is mine.
In Germany, to whom it may concern.

So I can confirm this method works.

Super clunky, super shady but whatever, I want all cars and tracks (as it was normal back in the day when I was young...)
