On the next title, please consider putting something like this in the game. But give more attention and consult sports video editor or educators. The monotone and accent made the videos hard to follow from a non-native English speaker point of view and it was such a waste of tech to use only dash cams. Even real footage have better coverage. And don't forget slow motion and visual sketches for moments like the start and hairpins. Better than pauses.
A little unrelated, I miss the flashback feature from Colin McRae Dirt 2. I don't have all day to start 10min runs to learn every skill by trial and error as if I was going to start a career as a rally driver in the 90s. Free roam playground didn't have many features that the tracks had.
Other than that (and the uncanny lack of baked AO on the interiors) great work! Loved it in VR.
If there was in-game teacher for practice sessions it could say what i should do otherwise so i could concentrate on things what is needed to improve my speed. I feel like this is what we need. At real rally there is coach for every driver whom sees and says whats wrong.
Record your driving and study it. That will teach you more than anything. Pay attention to your split times and compare your videos to see what you did different to go faster.
Get your gears right. It is the single most important setting. You should max out every gear.
Don't just spread them evenly out, but make them fit for all your turns so you go through the turn with close to max RPM. The most important turns are those that leads to long straights, so make sure you have a gear that is adjusted to perfeclty fit those. Perfect gears also makes it easier to drive. If you have same gear on 2 stages, you are not having optimal gears.
(do this in Time Trial of course).
Cheers :)
On the other hand I don't want to lose my driver's lisence so, yeah. GL.
Nice action though... can we do it digitally? LOL
On another note - What a great idea! let's make mostly single player game dependant on online connection all the time. What could go wrong, right? RIGHT???
