So do i need a racenet account to compete against other players?
There is a game mode to search for a game but lol most of the time it's empty so no sessions found. What game modes can i play with a racenet? Are there active players? Sorry but i'm still new to the game.

Are you looking to play Rallycross or just Rally?

Most people just do clubs for rallies as it's a bit easier, or compare their times on the leaderboards.

I just want to play ''rally'' mode and compete in real time with other players for the best time.

Most people don't do rallies in real time. So if you want to do that you'd probably have to set that up with some friends or maybe get some people together here or on discord or on reddit or something. Barrellrollers is a pretty solid community of simralliers.

You need a racenet account if you wish to join a club so you can play against those other members in that club. It isn't live - it is playing in rallies as set in advance by the Club Owner.
If you were looking to compete in a Club you could do a lot worse than this :steamhappy:

Thank you guys i decided to do not play online. I will keep playing single player only.

The daily and weekly & monthly events have earned me my money but beware the SP Career as it will bite you back. Come back or read the threads on this matter if you are unsure of what I am talking about. Have fun whatever you choose :-)

Axe thank you. I decided to play a public game i found a few moments ago but it was not like i expected. I had to use the x button on my dualshock 4 controller to manipulate my car's transmission. I don't what configuration the host used but i thought the transmission was going to be automatic. Completely different experience compared to single player. I was so confused so i ended last one but it's ok. I think multiplayer is not for me.

Take it easy and ease in - this game has depths which needs to be explored to get the full benefits but there is no rush. Just enjoy it at your own pace and take your time. I have no doubt there will be something you can hook into and carry on until you may want to explore further.

If MP isn't for you the that's OK and it isn't for me either but I have 800+ hours into the game. Take your time and I would be surprised if you didn't find something you can enjoy. Sorry I can't comment on 'controllers' as I use the keyboard even though I do have a G27 wheel :-)

That game you found just means the host chose to set the "No assists" option. When selecting a lobby to join you can see if this is enabled or not.

Assuming you join a lobby that allows assists, the real-time online rallies should be pretty much the same experience as playing single player except there's also that little indicator on the left showing how far along the track your competitors are. If you finish earlier than others you can also switch to live spectating of the remaining racers, which is a small but nice thing. You can still often finish last though hehe. A lot of online players are really good.

As an alternative, you might be interested in Time Trial ghosts since it's completely single-player, but also has visible ghost cars racing alongside you in real time. You can race up to 3 other players' ghosts plus your personal ghost simultaneously, and can select the ghosts of any player in the world who has set a time on a stage, meaning you can choose how tough you want those other cars to be.

Thanks i'm definitely enjoying the game, i have improved my driving skills but i avoid the most powerful cars since those are hard to drive. But i plan to practice with some of those just to try to learn how to drive them.

Which cars are you using?

R5 cars seems pretty intimidating, but they're actually not that tough to drive because they're pretty technologically advanced compared to a lot of other ones.

Group B is a death trap. :) But the R2 and R5 ones are pretty decent places to start, depending if you like FWD or AWD.

I have used a lot of cars but i mostly use the easiest ones. I've used lancia fulvia hf ,mini cooper s,Fiat 131 Abarth Rally,Ford Escort Mk IIOpel Kadett C GT/EAlpine Renault etc.. i havetried a lot cars but i only progressed with the easiest cars. I managed to drive the alpine renault pretty decently(without crashing too much.) Handling was not easy but it was better than i expected.

I'm thinking about getting a wheel. Why do you use keyboard instead of your G27 wheel?
Axe Jun 5, 2020 @ 8:33am
The answer is neither here nor there and is a mixture of small reasons - all personal and pretty tedious.

One reason is that I'm tired of having to set it up and configure it as to me I can't seem to find any single setting to suit the combination of car/rally. I am faster with a keyboard so I find no incentive to have to learn all over again and I'm not at all competitive I have absolutely no desire to win necessarily. Winning is nice but I'm not good enough as I don't have the drive required ;-)

It was a number of years when I owned a Logitech Wingman Formula Force when I actually realised I didn't actually like the feedback through the wheel. The only thing I do like is the resistance of the wheel to the surface and a very slight rumble which I now with the G27 I cannot find.

Add to that I'm not as young as I was and I'm pretty idle and lazy and to a certain degree quite tired of racing/driving games after a quarter century of playing them.

Like I say a mishmash of reasons which probably sound ridiculous to most but that's the way it is. I play for the fun of it without having to make it a chore.

I am not blaming the G27 as it's a good wheel and if you really care about winning I would suggest you should get one and learn to drive well with it.

I just can't be aszed anymore with it all frankly... ;-)

If I could do without it I'd dump the PC as I get more and more weary of it daily... I hate this digital age and all the crap that goes with it. I have no mobile phone and I'd go live on an island on my own with a single palm tree to prop me up.
