With the current surge of internet-traffic due to lock-down this could be anything from a simple traffic-overload somewhere between your machine and their servers - or it could be another un-timely micro patch-rollout as they are trying to mitigate problems with the recent new content-update.
We have been collectively criticizing their "always-online" career-mode since launch, for a reason. Dirt Rally 1 did not suffer this and would fall-back on local savefiles, ignoring global leaderboards upon connection-issues. Not so with DR2.0 where they did go all-in with "e-sport" competitions. My guess is this has something to do with things.
i have the same problem
I have lost the save of my career
Just make sure you don't accidentally drive "my-team" events when you know/ read about the servers throwing a tantrum.
I can't play damn career.
I can't support this sort of thing. Does anyone know whether this'd qualify for a Steam refund? I'm still within the 14 days period but well past the 2 hours threshold.
They really should not have needlessly changed that ONE aspect which the first game got right from the get-go.
Please tell us after you try!
I'm on the same fence right now. I like the game but always online drm ruined it for me.
EDIT: They will ask, but you don't have to give a real answer. It's really just for feedback. (That no one reads.)
just one thing: this is a sim-game. If you need a progression-system for self-motivation then this game is probably not the best fit for you, anyway. This is not to sound as a Codemasters-apologist. They made me bleed as much as they did you, if not more.
The only reason for me to recommend this game is because there is (still) no equivalent out there. Everything else is a waste of space for sim-nerds who value good, life-like physics-modeling - as sad as that is.
Did you buy the Super Deluxe version? If so, you'll have tons of credits - in fact that in itself is an issue, because it just kills progression. I had to buy and sell cars for 15m in order to " replicate" the base game progression. But I digress.
It's as if this game suffered an extreme version of counter intuitive upper management encroachment during its development - none of this makes sense from a game development perspective, and will seriously impact my decisions when buying Codemasters games in the future! I'd be shocked if they made more money because of this silliness in the first place!
As for me asking a refund - actively considering it, it's just that I truly enjoy the gameplay so it'd be a real shame. But will definitely do so if this is not fixed by Monday evening.
I can see that. I'm really just looking for them to acknowledge the pain of the community in some way, the credits are less important. This is such a disappointing thing to have happen to a game that is so fun to play otherwise.
1. Ask Codemasters to help and wait.
2. Don't want to wait? Play other game mode.
3. Just want to play career mode? Give up and play Dirt Rally (1). Yes, career mode inside.
4. Play F1 2019 if you still want to play racing game other than rally.
To be honest, Codemasters game is very good for me. But this time it make me so disappointed. Well, if it is because of coronavirus, I think it is acceptable.
