Unusual Leaderboard Time
Today while at NZ/Ocean driving the BMW checked the LB and was surprised to find a time (7.44) 35 seconds quicker than the pack which equates to around 2 seconds per Klm better than 2nd placed 8.19 (Me).Knowing there are aliens present on DR 2.0 I'm not pointing fingers but this time seems beyond what this car is capable of imo.Being on PS4 can't see the replay/ghost as it's a pc player so if anyone could check this out and post back I'd be grateful.

oh, you're looking at Eagleizer's times. He's pretty much epic in the BMW, he youtubes all his world record runs. here's the 7:44 run you're wondering about, where you get to watch him do stuff mere mortals can't do:

Is it Eagalizer by any chance? If it is.. Yes, he did the exact same to my WR fastest time on another stage. So we are probably on about similar levels. Fancy competing? :D

He takes any short cuts and cuts heavily everywhere, he is very good but I dont yet understand how his times are so fast, even despite the huge cuts but maybe we just dont practice enough.. we get on-ok ish time and move on... while he seeks absolute perfection everywhere and we come back to see our former WR times totally smashed! :D

He holds the WR's for all? the DR1 stages and has now started on DR2.

He videos all his WR's and puts them on youtube.

Edit- MostlyEvilKiwi linked the correct video above.

Lol This guy is a pathetic joke. He say that he use shortcuts only because WR use shortcuts. Than when people point out his bad habit he say that he doesnt like it as much as anyone else. But still do it even tho he clearly looking for shortcuts when the WR probably didnt. Irony exploit at best cheers eagleizer.

To me its the difference between a 'hotlapper' who scrutinizes each stage for the fastest possible way through it, no holds barred.

Its not a natural rally driving style but it is legal as far as the game is concerned...and it could be argued that it is more a fault of Codies not doing anything to stop it than eagaliser capitalising on CM's laziness. If it wasnt him someone else would do it.

I'm not going to go down that max shortcut route as I wouldnt enjoy the unaturalness of it but unfortunately as it currently stands.. it is a choice for all of us.

Since when uploading a video to Youtube proves its legal proof? some other day, i saw a video of a walking alien, a man who just returned from 2137, and truck loads of videos which show why the Earth is flat. All of them are in Youtube.

Such proofs that we have to believe.

Well, there is that... and he also shows no timer on his screen so it is a possibility but I also doubt he'd be cutting such huge sections if he was messing with the games internal clock, like you appear to be suggesting.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until I see some solid evidence that suggests otherwise.

Wasnt there a thread a few days back talking about the games internal clock being linked to fps and not real time? Not saying thats what is happening in this case as it looks a high frame rate but the game looks an open book for anyone that way minded to easily exploit it.

2 or 3 big shortcuts in the video. To big if you ask me. But the driving is very good. I Think his very fast even without shortcuts. So I dont now why hi does that. Fair play more fun I Think.

Behold, the power of 270 wheel lock. I was watching the tach the whole time, he plays DR2 like its DR1 with all of the flat out throttling

I got nothing against hotlapping. What im against is shortcuts to hotlap.

CM would need a miracle to make all possible shortcuts unusable.

The problem with time trial and people like eagleizer is even tho somebody did a WR with a clean race there always will be somebody that do not accept being second place and will look for all possible shortcuts to make the WR. After that hell broke loose.

Its just an optimization game. When its Speedrunners vs Sim Racers the speed runners will always win.

CM would need a miracle? If to overcome laziness then yes.. but to me it seems that a few rocks/boulders or fences strategically placed is all that is required. By watching Eagilizers videos they are even provided with the vast majority of the required overcut locations for them.

As much as I dislike it, Its just human nature to do anything necessary thats permitted by the game to get the top time. I dont blame Eagalizer.. I blame Codies.

In a nutshell, yes.

Are you kidding me. Boulder and fence will only prevent shortcuts to the modified turn in question. It would not prevent future shortcuts to be use and its far from a good incentive to not shortcuts at all.

YOU are a pathetic joke! Complaining about other users playing the game in certain ways?? :P

First of all, most of my world records does not include shortcuts!
If you are going to quote me, do so correctly in MY words, not yours!

I don't like the shortcuts any more than anyone else. I probably hate them more, because I'm not some 56 year old guy driving around enjoying the nature, I am competing! And the best would be if the game was as realistic as possible!

The people I compete with on the leaderboards, are taking the shortcuts, so I have to do that myself. How would it be fair for me to compete without following the same rules as my competitors?

We follow the boundaries of the game, and just as everybody else, we want the shortcuts, AND the larger cuts to be closed by rocks, fences and trees.

Attacking ME, just because I actually show that I am taking them, rather than complaining to Codies, is nothing but low...

I have already complained to Codies on their Twitter, 10 days ago. Have you??

https://twitter.com/Eagleizer/status/1104829371808796672

Quote:
"Eagleizer

Replying to @dirtgame

Please close any stupid shortcuts before release. A rock here and there cannot be that expensive...

12:40 PM - 10 Mar 2019"

This was long before anyone started to complain here in the forum!

In the end it does not affect you, and for me, it's the only way I can compete in a fear way.
If anyone thinks I beat them because I made a shortcut, I'll be happy to be challenged to compete without taking shortcuts, just upload a video of your run. Easy as that!

When I drive, who makes the rules about how much is OK to cut? You? How much? 10 cm?
100.? 200? 500 ? How would you define this limit? It have to be done by Codies, with barriers.
I would not mind having EVERY turn limited to the gravel. Rocks everywhere thanks!

As for now, shortcuts are available to everyone, annoying, but fair...

NOW, PLEASE GO AND ASK CODIES TO BLOCK ALL SHORTCUTS!

AS LONG AS THEY ARE THERE, YOU WILL ALWAYS ASK YOURSELF:
THOSE GUYS IN FRONT OF ME, DID THEY TAKE A SHORCUT OR NOT?

Chances are, most of them won't tell you, like I do...

And no... I don't use cheats!...
