G29 Should i go 900° or 720° or 540°?
My question is simple, i have been using 540° on Dirt Rally for all the cars out there. But it is not actually very realistic, or is it? I would really like to be informed about this from experienced people so every comment is appreciated.

Now i wanna go into deep a bit, how true is this to use exact same ratio with every car? Should i change it in between some specific cars or keep the same ratio all the time? What is the perfect ratio, or is it up to personal preference? Been using 900° on Dirt Rally 2.0 for sometime, it felt actually good, battling with the wheel is fun but in the end i feel like i am losing significant time out there.

If you set it to 900, saturation 100, linear 0, soft lock on.... Well to be frank you don't end up with a linear realistic experience, so just fudge it until it works for you. I'm using 700 degrees, 95 saturation, -2 linearity and it works well on most cars.

The soft-lock is meant to work that it will automatically set the rotation based on car, but it doesn't give the desired result like you would get in iRacing/Assetto Corsa etc.

I was really trusting to soft lock, but i also realized it is actually not working as it should. Because there was no lock on any of the cars and the in game wheel and mine was never linear too. So the things you have mentioned, saturation and linearity, what are they? You set them in game? I was using 540 static on default settings on DR1, if i go for it on DR2.0 will it give me the exact same experience?

With my G29 im using 720 and saturation 77.. And it's work great. 720 in the profiler G29 and saturation at 77 on the game.. I letf soft lock on at 100. Dont forget too calibrate the wheel in the game, before changing the saturation.

modern cars should be 540, older ones, 60's, 70's, 80's,90's not too sure, maybe around 720/900

Yes but i never changed saturation or any kind of linearity settings in Dirt games. How do they work even?

540

Saturation
This alters the amount that you have to turn the wheel to make the car turn. Increase this if you feel the steering is too sensitive. Reduce this if you feel that you have to move the wheel too much to get around the corners

Linearity
This dampens the information received from the inputs made upon the wheel and what you see in-game. Increase this if you are finding steering too responsive. Decrease this if you feel the steering is too sloppy.

I didn't get why do we have 2 different options called Saturation and Linearity there can't we just have one of them and it will be enough? Didn't get the differences between them too. But the most important thing is, why don't we just go ahead and change the degree of turn from logitech settings when we feel it is too sensitive or vise versa?

I'm gonna give your settings a try. Btw, in the device file, do I need to put friction to 5.0?

I didn't
You will never get through hairpins on 900 degrees. I run 540 and like it. I used to do 270 but its pretty twitchy. You can get opposite lock so fast though

I have tried various settings and settled on 500 degrees, as I can get close to full lock without moving my hands. I also found reaching full lock at speed usually didn't end well, so not being able to quiet reach full lock worked well for me.

As for realism, go buy a used rally cross car instead, its cheaper than most motor sports to get in to. Top Gear did a special on a few years ago. I think they brought cars for £1000, and another £1000 to get it race ready.

After all this is a game and any realism is just make believe. Your game settings should be about making the game more fun, or more playable.

540 on cars like 205 t16 evo 2 is a shame, i play at 900° in my panel and soft lock on, playing at 360 or 540 with old cars which are normally at 900 is not really good for your skills, you will be a good driver if you play at 900 with cars that are made for 900 and the feeling is better, 540 should be very twitchy instead of 900 !
900 and softlock on !
