Is it a 'real' multiplayer?

Like when doing a rally and waiting in line after each other? Not like the previous dirt rally where they just ghost with you on the same track?

Sadly, no. You don't see any cars, not even ghosts. The only thing you see is the players names on the stage progress bar of the left of the screen. So it's essentially a singleplayer experience in a multiplayer lobby. In short, it's poorly implemented.

holy, i remember playing Dirt 2, was a blast! The tension, all of the participants in the same track..wtf is going on with these games? Lazy coders...

can anyone of you imagine how boring it would be if there are 10 players in a lobby, and the 10th player would have to wait 15-25 minutes before he can even drive ^^ would not make much sense right?.

The awesome part of the online mode is that you need to "call up" your driving skill, because every mistake is un-revertable.

Just somebody mentioning DiRT2 makes me want to install the game. The first RX track (London) is still one of my favourites.

Btw, why are the earlier DiRT games gone from Steam Store? DiRT 2 nor 3 are available anymore (unless you have it in your library, like we all do)? Is it a music licensing thing? What happened?

Yep its the music licensing problem. Even Dirt Showdown is off the shelf and its online features are broken. Hope Dirt Rally 1 still have a long online support down the road...
