To anyone who thinks the FFB(Force Feedback) is not great in DR2.0
So on Monday(Jan 27th) my FFB was way stronger/better after the update, but apparently no FFB changes were made. Wednesday night it didn't feel good (again) just like I've felt before the update. I decided to go into device_defines.xml like everyone did when the game came out, found my wheel (name="tm_t300_rs"),and typed in ffb_force="1.00" (there was nothing there, but a lot of other wheels have nothing there), and BAM it's back to feeling good again. You'd think having nothing there would mean default to 1.0 like the xml says, but not in my case..... I'm pretty sure this is why we see people complaining about the FFB. For me, before this fix, I didn't feel any strong forces. I could basically fight through every force in my wheel, felt some Self-aligning torque when it was at 100, light with the ruts with suspension at 150, and some wheel friction which I changed per location. My wheel felt like it was at ffb_force="0.5" or something. Now I feel everything and it's awesome.

TL;DR:
Go to: .....Steam\steamapps\common\DiRT Rally 2.0\input\devices and find device_defines and type in ffb_force="1.00" like in this screenshot(but for YOUR wheel obviously) https://imgur.com/a/K6lAvwS

You can go higher or lower, but don't break your wrists if you go higher!

Edit: I have my Thrustmaster settings as 75% overall. Decided to try ffb_force and ffb_friction 1.25 and it feels a bit better. I guess it sorta evens out in the end.

I already knew this as well. Not everyone knows this trick. I messed with it when the game came out, and since it didn't feel good and had no VR, I pretty much stopped playing until August. Like I said in my post... "I decided to go into device_defines.xml like everyone did when the game came out, "

I guess I'm part of your "we" club. What do I get? Anything special?

Anyway, there was a FFB update (May), which I thought felt good(but again, pretty much stopped playing after an hour, because no VR), but somewhere along the line I guess an update came out that bugged it out again, and I ended up just adapating to use bad FFB I guess, once VR came out. For some reason, the DEFAULT value of 1.0 was not being used by the game, so it seems like a bug, and I feel most people are missing out on the true FFB of the game. So even if someone knew about this trick (like I did), it's still bugged.

they also list FFB_Friction and FFB_High_Pass as optional commands, something you might want to test.

I wish they would explain what they mean. My guess is High_Pass may be for higher quality wheels to get more detail, but who knows. I'm not really into experimenting anymore but I might have to, since I see no one else talking about those values.

Oh a new thread on FFB :-).

Yes it is naf and for now CM are not going to fix it. You are welcome to try what Kolly suggests, but it is not a fix. The issue with FFB is, some feedback sutch as tyre slip, is missing, some others such as cattle grid, are way too high and other the signals are too low to be felt correctly. Cranking all signals up to 500%, is just silly and could damage your wheel.

It is as laughable as the Spinal Tap amplifiers that go up to 11 instead of 10.

Still its a free country do what you will.

Like you said, I don't think CM will improve anything, but at least for me it's usable now. I couldn't feel all of the basic forces that I should have felt. I only felt them once I added ffb_force "1.0" aka the DEFAULT settings. Since my TM control panel settings are at 75% I've gone with ffb_force and ffb_friction 1.25 each, it's pretty good now. I'm not "cranking all signals up." This thread is more about the settings being buggy than modding it to unusual settings. When people just post "I use ffb_force "5.0" I wish they'd also add their in-game settings. They must be using super low numbers on every slider for FFB in-game.

Yes it is strange that people set FFB = 5.0 then turn all the sliders realy low. Mabey Kolly could enlighten us..

Which one in the list would be the TM 300 ferarri alcantara wheel?

Would you please share your wheel type and FFB settings.

Any one who has experimented with the high pass filter, could you please post what effect it actually had on the FFB.
