''Sucking'' at game is too relative to make sense because every player defines it on it's own, I don't dominate online races but also I don't spend half the time digging my car out of the ditch. I'm doing quite good but after just the 10 hours it gets boring, check out my achievments if you think I suck, few of them might change your opinion on me.
Then go do something else.
The best advice is to just give up. It’s a very challenging game and if you’re not willing to learn, than there’s no point wasting time with it.
Clearly, you understand very little about it. The GT Rally Porsche is hardly the best. You should start with something easy to handle and low maintenance like H1 or R2. Ignore the online events for now and focus on the single player content.
Thanks for the advice,
Yes, ignored the Porsche up to today because I was trying out different modes and cars to get a grip at what I'm supposed to do. Trying it, and then checking out other DLC cars made me write this.
I've started with the lowest tier (class?) cars to, as mentioned before, know what I was getting into. The problem with the single player content is that there's not enough or I don't know what I'm doing (this one's more likely)
I’m not sure what sort of advice you’re looking for.
Thanks again.
Basically any advice that could help me out like the one with the maps.
money, progression, team managment, so on, I don't know if I did something wrong but I haven't played the tutorial so I was kinda going blind with the experience from the first game and a lot has changed. What I mean is, if you could kindly explain some mechanics or the progression because after 10h I haven't noticed any differences from what I had when I started playing.
Just about any help will be apreciated.
There is different skill levels, you start out in the "Open" category which is meant as an introduction. If you have any familiarity with rally or skill with the car you'll be able to proceed to the next category "Clubman". This keeps on going until you get to the last tier, with the rewards from each category increasing by a decent chunk.
You can use any "Group" of cars in any tier, but you are expected to start w/ the H1 FWD group in Open.
Typically faster cars are harder to control with less room for error, so stick w/ slower cars and focus on the basics of weight transfer.
Upgrades for those same cars are also bought with cash, these upgrades can range from engine tuning that will improve your performance at the cost of your engine wearing out faster, to just straight up upgrades like more durable brakes, suspension, etc.
Cars aren't the only thing you can upgrade, you will want to hire more mechanics in order to keep up with some of the brutal damage your car will receive when you start reaching Clubman rank and higher.
Just kidding, I get your concerns, but that was a funny lead in you gave us
The 2 career modes are daunting straight away; here's 24 races already laid out. No car switching or decision making on the way, just get the slowest car and drive all tracks. You'll get some credits. If you aren't already good, don't expect to go up a level.
The careers don't even have their own section in the game and instead are just tacked onto a screen of 14 other events the new player can't join. But being such a dry career mode, that is exactly what the player is going to try to do, only to be met with:
- you don't have this car
- you don't have this track
- you have this track but don't have the season pass
- you have this car but you can't use because it's stuck in the career
So good job devs on presenting the new player with 14 unplayable events right next to the world's dullest career mode.
Then finally you get to compete in some dailies and such, but your cars are nerfed. You have to grind out the engine and durability upgrades that everyone you're competing with already has. I'm not sure what this adds to the game; they're just credit sinks the player has to fill.
Sorry OP I'm not really addressing your question, just showing general agreement that the game doesn't try to welcome the new player.
But what really confuses me about all this... the Freeplay mode.
So there's this super bland career mode where you have no cars, have to pay to fix them, have to pay to upgrade when you buy more, and can't change once you start...
... or there's Freeplay where you have all cars, all already upgraded, a more interesting Historic rally mode, Dirtfish, Time Trial with online leaderboards, and online head-to-head, and online clubs. Again, with all cars already unlocked and upgraded.
So what are you actually earning in the original career mode? Progression purely for the sake of progression? I don't get it.
Howdy,
about the skill levels - does the transfer to the higher class happen automatically or do I need to do something special e.g. select different race ? I haven't seen any option like that.
I figured out team managment quite early into the game and started investing into the pilot and main engineer training, which feels kinda weird since either there's little to no difference in what they could do before I trained them.
Car upgrades too weren't complicated enough for me to not understand them, in fact it was easy to get to know what do I need to do in order to get it upgraded and/or change engine or go for custom tuning.
About buying cars, last time I wanted to buy a Mini Coupe, I got a message ''car is unavailable'' I was on the server, connected and had more than enough (over 270k) on my account, any idea why it didn't work ?
:D
What I meant was that one or two more modes would be a welcome sight in Dirt. Yes, I was suprised that I did not get to drive the subway cart in the game called Dirt Rally 2.0, my dissapointment was immesurable and my day was ruined
This is spot on of what I was talking about, confusing design, terrible solutions to carrer and no introduction to the game lead to people abandoning it before they even get to try better stuff
It's nice to see someone asking for help like a normal person instead of blundering in like an ape at a tea party just to gain attention. But I won't go into that here... :-)
Because of that I can suggest you may want to look at the guides on this forum which I'm sure will have a large array of info in different area. Thanks for your politeness.
