We don't want the R5 cars, we want WRC cars!

They can't include the WRC cars without license, but why they don't include semi-fictional/fictional WRC cars is beyond me. R5 cars are just meh. Thankfully there are historic cars that are exciting to drive, assuming they get the car physics right

I wonder if there is any license issue with including older-spec WRC cars. For example the cars from Dirt Rally. The Polo in that game was awesome. But then again, I don't know what is protected by the WRC License.

The manufacturers actually might want to. It sounded a lot like it was the FIA throwing their legal weight around to shut the door on codemasters being able to include them. Id guess that's why they had a deal with the GRC and stuck to the R5 cars to relieve a lot of the legal pressure.
The older WRC cars might have been covered by a different set of rules and the FIA have no way to actually lock anyone out of using them as long as the manufacturer/sponsors all agree to be represented.

Thats really the attitude to take to try and improve the atmosphere here. Stating your resentment for the behaviour and then doing it yourself in the same post is quite ironic too.

I prefer the old rear wheel drive cars like BMW E3 or Fiat Abart 131. The more challenges the better. The modern WRC cars are... too pure to drive.))

Supposedly yes you will get WRC cars in 2.0, just like the previous Dirt.

I thought it was they DiRT Rally was a way better WRC game than the actual WRC game. And as a result the WRC game people 'hinted' to the codies not to make the game as close to the actual WRC. Whis is my theory on how they can get away with argentina, spain, and australia evenn though they are WRC locations. I don't mind the lack of modern WRC though. The R5 is superfun on the build I last played of this game. But who knows, other games have gotten WRC cars again so it's still a possibility.
