Why are the brakes and revers on the same button
I don't get it this game is trying to be some what real in the game play but you have this button lay out and there is no way to set it up so that revers is on a button I can set wipers but not this. I would love to know what car in real life has this set up. I think this game has come a lone way is is really good except for this I bet I am just one person that dose not like this and you will never fix it. But I thought I would ask.

Are you using manual gears? Then u need to shift into R to reverse

Pretty much all games have it like that when using automatic transmission. Even if u drive car irl with automatic u still need to move gearstick to R(reverse) and then back to D (drive), u don't just press a button to reverse.

Also using manual gearbox can be useful to limit top speed by using certain gear+keeping full throttle instead of always "half throttling" to maintain a certain speed.

you don't drive do you it does not work like that all and they could make it so you set a button to it but they don't and that is all I would like is the option to do that and I don't see how hard it would be.

if there'd be logic to it it would only make it worse. you'd have to push 2 buttons at the same time with automatic shifting to force the car into reverse then using the w (or arrow up in my case) to go backwards.Or, a key that allows you to alternate between forward and backward without any of the other shift changes. But for a game that's trying to be realistic it wouldn't make sense to allocate a special key just for reverse. I guess if you really want to do it another way you could learn driving with manual shifting. I don't do manual shifting either cuz I can't be bothered, but I have no problem with the reverse being the way it is so guess I'm ok xD.

Glad it works for you and I know how to shift I just like to hope in some times and drive with the Xbox One controller and not have to pull my wheel out to drive and it would not be a problem just like they let you set a button for the wipers if I could just set it to revers it would be fine.I know they do it like this in all there games I have them like I said I just wish there was an option for it. I don't think it would be to heard to add it. The bring it up because I find if I go of the road and get back on right a way and have a flat I have to hit the break and the car moves bad so you try and stop but then the car moves again and you try and stop and the car moves back again.

What is this "reverse" you speak of? I drive my rally car in the forward direction at all times! :steammocking:

With that flat tire thing u could use handbrake at the very end to stop the car instead of brake button. U can shift with xbox controller too just put upshift to A and downshift to X for example and u have sequential stick/paddle simulation and no need to use clutch or anything like that.

Well I don't know if this is possible but a thought just occured to me.If you can change keybinds on steering wheel... Can't you somehow use the pedals for throttle and brake (and not the steering wheel for steering, just keyboard/controller), then allocate the shift pedal towards handbrake /reverse?

Well i like Dirt Rally 2.0's reverse system compared to the other games because when you stop or slowed down you need to relase and press down again to the brake button which that helps you to not go with reverse gear with fault.

Guess so. but usually when I get into a situation where I have to use reverse I have already come to a full stop anyway. Whether it's by tree, missing a corner due to speed or not paying attention and do 2 Right when he said 2 Left and suddenly am facing a dude next to a car.
Well you are right too it's not always practical. They can add on/off option to the settings, that would be great.
