Why do I start with $1.2 Million?
I just want to start from scratch, but my new profile has $1.2 million and a dozen or so cars. Is this because I got the deluxe edition? I don't want all this free stuff I want to play the game. I've sold all the free cars, and I think I can burn away my money very tediously. Does anyone know what amount of money you're "supposed" to start with is?

(I also notice that my stock car starts fully upgraded. I've looked at some let's plays and they get to start at level 1. I don't think I can even downgrade my car. What a pain... I also tried resetting my profile but it didn't help.)

Thanks

it's weird. Since the game was released, we are all asking to get more cars, more tracks.
The money spent at the beginning to recruit engineer staff and decrase repair time and cost is worth it. I am pretty sure that the cars you get at start are NOT fully upgraded in carrer and events mode, as these are the places in which you upgrade them, not in free trial areas. Why would you want to downgrade cars? this is somehow a counter productive statement.

I want to start with next to nothing and earn things as I play, I don't want to be given things for free.

1.2 M are spent very easily at the beginning just for staff recruitment...and you 'll barely see the impact :) so your expectations to start from scratch would be almost fulfilled.
after 600 h , I have not yet completed the upgrade of all 59 (?) cars. and the learning curve is long and rewarding. ( I can reach top level 20 in some categories during day/week/monthly events.)
Up to now, 23 M credits, and I have little to no use of it.
Have fun :)

What I did was buy 4 NR4 Subarus that cost $250,000 each, and then I'll just pretend I don't have them. Eventually money will probably not matter anymore, but at the start of the game it should.

Have you tried to reset your progress in profile settings?
Also, have you tried to deactivate DLCs in Steam library?

You can downgrade your cars by buying the stage one upgrades in Garage

I bought cars a second time to complete 2 achievements ( in the delta Integrale and the Audi quatro categories.Although displayed with stage one engine and no buyable items, Copy cars inherited for all engine upgrades without having to run them for upgrading.
