The physics and handling are more realistic, but some die hard DR 1 fans prefer DR 1.
There's a bunch of new rallies and RX courses, but they've also included some of the same RX courses, but they've reworked them all. All of the rallies are new, but the deluxe version has Monte Carlo and will have Wales from DR 1, but they've done a bunch of work on the tracks so they will feel different with the upgraded physics etc. If you get the deluxe version, which is a good deal right now, you basically end up with 10 rallies and 10 RX courses - twice as many locations as DR 1. There's also some new cars, but many returning.
Looks better and performs better on my machine. Some of the new rallies like Poland and New Zealand are absolutely breath taking.
Anyway, I think it's the best rally game ever made. I'm happy I picked it up.
single player is also locked behind always online
There is no great divide and many have grown into the game but expected way more from this release - including for it to be, and work as intended. It' been rushed ahead of a proper release and WE have paid for it.
So 'upgrade from DR1 - not much at all. Buys in a good sale and do not pay more. Or get a cheap 3rd party steam key.
DR 2.0 > DR 1
FFB:
DR1 >>> DR 2.0
Graphics:
DR 2.0 > DR 1
Terrain change through race/event:
DR 2.0 >> DR 1
I know you have a problem with me and that it why I reported you for insulting me and you got a warning - so if you have something to say be a man and say it. It's called a discussion forum - not a troll forum.
Would you care to explain what the point of this nonsense post is? Do you actually have any opinions on anything without trolling and insulting others?
Dirt Rally 2, yeah. I think it's a fair point to only buy it at more than 60% off because of the lackluster release. However, they Codemasters learned it's lesson and is patching the game. Next week it's patch 1.6. Let's see how DR2 is at the end of the road
Also I am curious if there's any new Rally game they will release it in a proper state according to current simstandards.
If you want a game where people did put pure love and energy in; choose Dirt Rally 1.
If you want a game with the most content; choose Dirt Rally 2
Agreed.
To be honest, I haven't played career at all, and so haven't been effected by any of the issues I read about. I've only done custom events, and time trial - and I love it. But I'm more of a sandbox gamer anyway.
fun: dr1 beats dr2
consequences of mistakes: dr beats dr2
graphics: i prefer dr1's more realistic gritty approach, but dr2 is definitely prettier.
ffb: dr1 hands down
VR: dr1 only so far.
i still prefer dirt rally 1. as far as im concerned its on point. mixes the best parts of realism and arcade together to make it really feel like you are driving a rally car. even if that means it exaggerates a few things. (like gravity). but i love it. ive tried dr2 and it just doesnt feel right to me, partially the lack of vr (im not used to pancake racing anymore.. its been a while..) partially the sub par FFB. and largely just the new physics will take a fair bit of getting used to. + the cars all understeer a little too much for my taste and its not so easy to chuck them into corners and oversteer etc. - tuning should help with this but i am terrible at car tuning...
