I mean, it is working fine, I still think DR1 FFB is far better but, it is working fine (I have a G29).
In my case, I completely uninstalled G-Hub, including leftover files in %APPDATA%, then downloaded the last version of Logitech Gaming Software (from 2018) instead. In contrast with G-Hub where the wheel was sometimes there, sometimes not, LGS instantly recognized the wheel, applied a firmware update (!), and everything worked in DR2. Most noticeably, while I can now feel the road with the wheel, soft lock is now also applied, which changes the range of the wheel per vehicle. This is incredibly important in the game.
So apparently the problem is with Logitech software -- as it's most often the case -- and not at all with DR2.
I haven't tried installing G-Hub after LGS and have no intention to do so for the moment as the wheel is my only Logitech device.
Otherwise, I was hoping for something groundbreaking here. Unfortunately nothing new.
It's not up to Logitech, Thrustmaster or Fanatec, because all of them can deliver at Dirt Rally, Assetto Corsa, ACC, rFactor 2, RRE, AMS 2 etc., why not here?
Never worry about posting helpful information even years later, your tip on installing a 2018 version of LGS solved the problem of no FFB (G29 on Windows 10 64bit) for me too, so a big thanks!
For anyone else wondering the specific version I used was ftp:/ftp.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/gaming/LGS_8.98.234_x64_Logitech.exe
Note, when installed and you plug in your wheel it will appear to be unable to connect, ignore this, the G29 tab is still displayed and force feedback now works in games.
Also note that this is not specific to Dirt 2, NO game on my system had force feedback until I installed the older LGS. It is 1000% a Logitech software/firmware issue.
Logitech really are utterly incompetent when it comes to drivers and software. They should be seriously fined or sued for releasing software that literally removes core features from their products, without as much as a workaround provided by them.
I wonder how many gullible / non-technical customers paid Logitech more money for a new wheel, when they assumed their wheel had physically broken because of an auto software update of LGS or GHub broke force feedback. I detest hardware companies like Logitech that delude themselves thinking they can write software too.
I would expect toned down physics with lots of "surprise mechanics" for getting the cars, cars parts and tuning the cars to improve a Lancia Fulvia HF into something being able to beat the Modern Rally R5 cars on the straights and at turns with golden or diamond tier "surprise mechanic" parts that also grand unrealistic resistance to damage and auto-fix for no repair cost, giving that extra advantage.
But hey, you can get the "about the same" parts if you play for 80+h for each part, granting that you will play for over 2000+h to get all parts that you need to have "about the same car parts" as someone that paid for it and can have it from the get go, like at any "surprise mechanics EA game"!
