Rain in VR impossible to see.
I don't know if this is the terrible HDR but I had a race in the rain which was so bad I couldn't even see where I was supposed to go. It wasn't from the rain drops on the screen but all the streaks of rain just washed out and bright even without lights (it was night). I turned my headlights off which didn't help.

It was a bit better in total darkness but the floodlights made it so I couldn't see anything. I actually like driving int he rain and at night when I've smashed my headlights, it was very immersive but this was dreadful. Got disqualified in the end mainly from too much going the wrong way and not going while trying to grab a screenshot.

Anyway to fix this? I turned bloom off (closest thing I could see in options) but that didn't help. I took some screenshots but they don't really do justice to how bad it was.

It was dreadful, any way to disable that? As with most things VR, screenshots just aren't what you see, it was all super bright that I couldn't see anything else. I like driving in the rain, I like driving in the dark but this was not fun at all.

Nope, no way currently. Have to just wait. I would like to drive the World Cup Kopina so much, but I can't even see road in daylight from inside the H2 Escort. The light contrasted with dark interiors makes it impossible to see beyond light streaks. Yeah, I feel you, we have to wait if they patch it or give us options for it.

Just so you know, you wouldnt be able to use the H2 Escort in the current qualifier; as its H2 FWD cars, not H2 RWD cars.

Also, have you tried turning things off such as god rays and the other camera style effects at the bottom of the graphical settings menu? I have all them set to "replay", and what I have played of DR2.0 in VR, lighting has been fine; even in rain. A lot of my VR settings testing has been done at Wales at night in the rain, to have a worst case scenario going on while testing various things. Had no issues seeing anything.

Thanks for the replies.

I have most of the pretty settings set to replay too (mainly for performance in VR) but I'll have another look.

I've seen the HDR/VR threads so I did try moving my head forward to see if I could see which did actually help but I had to practically hang over the wheel so I couldn't drive.

Has this been patched yet? As I'm fed up every time it's heavy rain or snow that I have to turn shaders down, which also makes the trees look shiny and crappy.
Patched yet?? or better solution to deal with it ???

I haven't experienced this since but I haven't had crazy rain since (just regular rain).

Hey sorry but since your playing this in VR, I'm using Index, will I be able to use the hand controllers and finger tracking or do I have to use a wheel/controller etc?

Motion controllers are not supported.

As Kian said, motion controllers are not supported but to add to that I think it really wouldn't be as fun as a using a wheel. You can use a controller but no where near as fun as having a wheel. You'll be sitting there in the car, you need a wheel, right? (and pedals, shifter + handbrake would really make it but it all starts adding up)

The water shader on the windshield also needs heavy adjusting, it looks like refraction is twice as much in VR compared to flat on a monitor. It's like slime floating on glass, not water. The auto exposure needs to be adjusted too, nearly impossible to drive in sweden when it's foggy and snow falls. Clear weather looks heavliy overbrighten on the other stages, i wonder why those obvious issues aren't be adressed right from the start.

I take it when you say it needs heavily adjusted, you are meaning the game developer's need to fix this or can this currently be adjusted somehow by the end user??

They have to change shader parameters for flat effects vs VR effects. We don't have access...

Yes this also. Rain on the windshield looks horrible. You basically can't see anything. The flat version has totally different and more realistic rain. What the hell? Also droplets of rain or snow are not poperly lit by the headlights at night stages. They are very bland. Heavy rain or snow should be very aparent when lighted by the high beams of rally cars at night. DR1 didn't have this problem. Snow looked fantastic lit by the headlights. Fix it codemasters.

PS. Do anyone have strange effects on water like when you cross the river? Sometimes it's ok and other times water looks very glitchy or semi dissapearing for me. Anyone with the same problem?
