Impreza 2001
So I've been having trouble getting to grips and getting comfortable with the 2001 Impreza. I just kinda feel like it never behaves how I'd expect it to behave, how I'd want it to. Driving the similiar class Skoda or the Ford Focus I've been able to make better times on stages with no prior setup and driving the cars for the first time. But, as I'm driving a 2001 Impreza in real life, I'm biased and I want to love this car, but its extremely frustrating to drive it, for me. Heck, I've felt more comfortable with the Lancia Delta S4. Any ideas for setting up the Subaru? For me, it doesn't slide enough and when it finally slides enough to my liking, I'm sliding straight out of the corner. Oh, and on asphalt I understeer quite badly. I've tampered around with setups, but not really found a nice one yet. Maybe someone can give me some advice, would be appreciated.

Try increasing the LSD drive and preload to mid way or below half on rear. Reduce front LSD drive to 10 to 20% and preload low 10 to 30.
Middle diff will need tweaking go both extremes after setting front and rear and see what happens. Can use a bit of -toe in rear as well. Hope that can help. Unless this car has only 3 direct dif settings which i dont remember what its dif page looks like entirely.
I can make a setup for car if needed

The car has the 3 direct diff settings. I've found a setup which seems to be quite well, but I dunno, the car sometimes just doesnt do how I expect it to. I think in general then Subaru is quite floaty/boaty compared to the others in the class, but I guess thats down to it being a sedan.

The Impreza -01 is perhabs my favorite car in the game. That bloody car dances like ballerina when you tell it to. I love it.

Yeah, you really have to throw it in though. Often enough I kinda loose momentum mid corner, try to weight shift forward with braking, but only slow down, completely loose the slide and understeer away. Like that is my main problem with the car. Other than that I love it. But I'm biased though.

Most notable thing about Imprezas is how they respond well to aggressive driving and good use of trail-braking. Really throw the car into corners, steer heavily and throttle liberally, after you do that you'll get a better feel for its limits and refine your driving.

Even the default setup in the 2001 is pretty good as-is if you get a handle on it.

What you're saying here sounds more like the -95 Impreza to me. That bugger is way more prone to understeer in my experience. Almost as bad as the Lancia, which I struggle with.

This game has taught me one thing though. I really need, and I mean need, an Impeza.

I'm trying that definitely.

I've never thought myself as driving agressively, but me and the -01 Impreza really click. Especially in Wales.

Check out this link! I found it on reddit looking for someone capable of tuning the car better than I could. Someone replied that this man is doing God's work so I looked, and after applying his setups to my car I'm inclined to wholeheartedly agree. https://youtu.be/OMQqu3OX5Kw.

I am using his setups and only really adjust the stuff like brakes or gearing (I think his gearings are odd with the SUbaru) to my liking

Yeah, I'm currently doing the career in Australia and I think I've gotten better. Before I drove 2 hours with the Lancia Stratos and it really was a relief to be back in the Subaru. Its just that the very aggressive chucking into corners doesn't suit me all that well, yet.

I first felt it to be a bit slippery too on the new, wet Greece gravel, but after some attempts I got used to it: https://youtu.be/DWnENGb4_WE

EDIT: The car just understeers when I really don't need it. Its getting really frustrating as I either can't finish a stage on a good pace without an accident because of the understeering or I am simply too slow because I baby it waaay too much. The paradox thing is, that I can slide the other 2000cc cars through the corners pretty effortlessly, but the 2001 Subaru just reminds me so much of DiRT 4. In theory, if I lock the rear diff and open the middle and front diffs I should be able to slide the thing round corners like there is no tomorrow, or can someone enlighten me about the diff settings? I know what it is, but I don't know how the middle diff for example affects the handling of an AWD car.
