Trine 1,2 vs 3 vs 4?
So i've played 1 and 2. Awesome games! Then I have 3 but still didn't play it. I heard that its worse and shorter then first two chapters. What about the 4th installment? Long as originals or short as 3rd? And what about its quality?

4 is great and much longer than 3. It "went back to its roots".

So you have it, but didn't play it because you heard bad stuff about it? You are incapable of creating your own opinions or what?

Nope, I just was busy with other games.

Then fire up Trine 3 and see it for yourself. You won't die because of it.

I dislike Trine 3 a lot :(
the fake 3D design is annoying

Trine 3 is really really good the first third, the 3D is really nice, level are beautiful, it becomes just good the second third... and there's at least a third missing to end the story ^^
Basically it's good but a little short (7h). Also, not many player in multiplayer but if nobody's there you can use the forum to plan a playthrough with other
If you have Trine 1 and 2, well, get the bundle with 3 and 4 :) problem solved !

Fake 3D? What the hell is that? 2D objects moving in 3D?

Trine 4 belongs in the top among Trine 1 and 2. It's actually better than those two, and personally I love those games, and I always recommend them when people ask for great co-op experiences.
Trine 3 isn't a BAD game. It's a bit broken, but if you have patience it's worth a playthrough. Just don't expect too much from the story. I'd say get the bundle with 3 and 4 as Bobywan suggested.

Other than it not being resolved, what's wrong with the story? It's my favorite story in the series.

@topic; Three is worth a try, I think it has redeeming qualities. A lot of which are used in 4. Some downgrades, some of which used in 4... [Zoya only being able to hook specific things instead of anything made of wood].

1 is still my favorite though.

1: Fighting slows down the game, it can be a bit boring because of that. It's the first game tho. It also feels dead especially compared to all the other ones. Last map is best map of all the Trine games tho. There are items, which no other games have. Spells somewhat differ. Multiplayer and other stuff was added much later for free.

2: Colorful, feels like a real tale/fable. Music is by far the best here. Puzzles are great, maybe biggest variety of spells, and with DLC a lot of playtime. Favorite of mine. You already played it, that's why this section is short.

3. Style, art and music is closer to Trine 2, thus it's great. Crybabies cried, thus the story will never be finished. This is a company that released a lot of free content, like multiplayer for their first game, which is a huge deal, Frozenbyte miscalculated, and I'm sure they would've loved to fix those mistakes if people would've let them. Because of people, one of the best game devs almost went bankrupt, they had to focus on other games, and only with outside financial support could they create Trine 4. I hate people, because Trine 3 is awesome, and it is only short and unfinished because of the players. Still got free updates tho. Yeah 3D wasn't the best idea but still a very good game.

4: Music is awesome, puzzles are great, story is nice. Some aesthetic changes I don't really like, for example Amadeus' box just disappears instead of being destroyed. Having those box leftovers in Trine 1-2 just felt right. Other than that the game is even more beautiful than the previous ones. But what's really unique, which could potentially add a lot of playtime, is that there are at least 2 versions of each map puzzle-wise: a version for single player, and a version for unlimited coop. I dunno if there is a 3rd one for classic coop. My friend started the game alone, and all the puzzles were different, so if you have a friend, there is at least 2 complete walktroughs you can enjoy, which is twice the content basically. Most amount of playtime potentially. This also shows that instead of money, they have love for their game and fans. Just for that you should buy every Frozenbyte games for all platforms you own at least once, even if you'll never play their games. They deserve it.

EDIT: Yeah I liked it more than Zoya can shoot ropes anytime, which was fun, and that any wood could've been used. In 3 it was needed, but in 4 they didn't have to stick with it.

I think the story of Trine 3 part 2:... isn't 100% dead because of a Easter Egg in Trine 4 but we shouldn't expect it sooner or maybe later and thus a good idea to support other games from Frozenbyte would spark light in reviving the Trine 3 cliffhanger game which I totally agree. Though I will wait for it when the time is right whenever the decision is made from Frozenbyte, thank you.

Trine 3 is shorter than Trina 1, 2 and 4 but it's not worse. Sure it's missing part of the story but it's still a good game.

Personally I cannot choose which one is the best Trine for me... All trines are unique so each Trine is my favorite based on what I've experienced playing each of it.

As I wrote in my review, I wanted Trine 4 to be a bit longer, prolly with at least 1 more act but since this did not happen I hope they release an expansion in the future. Also it lacks of hard & hardcore modes, the fights are way too easy and kinda boring atm. They should also add more achievements other than "collect all X" and "complete the map".
I've completed trine 1 &2, played 3 a bit and demoed 4.

Trine 1 &2 are fantastic, 3 was a let down and is very hard to use, the 3d part made my friend sick, but trine 4 is fantastic, i completed the first few levels and it just like trine 2 but better
