is there a way to save
I know there wasn't when the game came out, but is there a way around this, I'm sick of running through the same bit of a level just to have one mistake undo 20min work and mean I have to do it all over again, not fun

mate, this is an OLD game. You eather harden up, and play it or not. That is how the old games where, and that is why they are still the best. Stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, and your fine.

yeah, i hated running through the same game on sega just to have one mistake undo 3+ hours of work and mean I have to do it all over again. grow a pair.

"Grow a pair"? Pfft, hitman is hell. If I wasn't so obssessed with beating it, and if I had a physical copy, I'd smash it into little bits and brun it. When that one mistake shows up, my advice is to just go with it. Pull out your gun and shoot everyone. It actually dosen't take that much from the job pay, most of the time.

I've actually had a bit more luck with this game, worked out a bit more with how guards do or don't realise your up to something, seems at first if there is one shoot then everyone will shot at you, but since found thats not always the case, and changing cloths at the right time can help as well, thanks to Anterk for at least trying to answer the question, just a point as well this is an OLD pc game, at the time (I remember playing the demo when it was new) nearly all PC games let you save, I was playing the last hong kong level and even the reviewers at the time got fed up with going through the same 20 odd min just to get back to the same point again

lol, its not because its a old game that it doesnt contain saves, if anything, old PC games allowed you to save more than modern games (with their console-ish "Checkpoints").

Codename 47 was designed to be like this, while frustrating, it can give you quite the challenge & excitement.

With that said, i share the pain that we all had during some levels (for me it was the Find Uw'a Tribe & Plutonium Runs Loose)

Find the Uws tribe was easy. The hardest mission for me so far is "Say Hello to my Little Friend".

that one is a pain, at that point at the mo, sometimes the game seems to be more action than stealth,

The stealth aspect is why I'm replaying it after all this time. It can be frustrating but finishing perfect is great.

Pff Challenge is for idiots to stroke their e-peens. Fun games are the right kind of game.
If Hitman is too hard play on an easier difficulty. I still hate the mission where you have to kill Borris and have to disable the bomb. If you stuff up there, you are gone. Checkpoints are unforgiving but there is no way around them. Either use them or restart the mission, each time. I restart, personally....

"This is how the old games were" Riiiight. Old PC games never had quick save and load options. NEVER!

Good thing I was well aware about that the first two Hitman Games were more about action and running & gunning when something fails than true Stealth like the more recent ones. But some saves / checkpoints would indeed be nice, especially when you failed 3 times or more after tried different approcaches to a situation and it took you all together hours, your motivation to still be stealthy is going against zero, especially when running and gunning works so well too still.

The thing is, the missions take long to learn, but not actually long to complete. No mission should take much more than 5-10 minutes to complete if you know what you have to do. There is much less player freedom than in the later games, normally there is just one way that gives you the least trouble. So it takes time and a couple of tries to explore the levels, learn the behaviour of the enemies, find out what you need to do and learn from a couple of mistakes. But if you're taking 20 minutes on a mission, it's a good sign that you're approaching it the wrong way.
