Say Hello to my Little Friend crash

This game works just fine up until I have to detonate the bomb for the mission "Say Hello to my Little Friend". As soon as I click to detonate the game crashes. This game is really old so obviously my specs surpass it. I'm running windows 7 and default settings.

Anyone have a solution?

Did you defrag the game files and verify the cache?

I have tried that too. I mean no offense, but look at my profile. I have so many games, chances are i've tried all the usual fixes.

Luckily though, it somehow fixed itself. :L

Hey. Detonate the bomb, from within the house where you killed the drug lord. Make sure all doors are closed and you are safely inside. The cutscene plays and the game continues to the next mission. Worked for me.

I also changed the game renderer from Direct3D to 'Open GL' but just detonate the bomb from within the house and it should work. I too, am on Windows 7. The game does not let you detonate outside otherwise you'll immediately die and fail the mission or the game will crash on most PC's. It's a common bug and one that will most likely be fixed in the upcoming HD collection of the 4 old Hitman, classic games!

Also run the shortcut as admin. and remove any compatability settings (this will make the game run worse from my experience) ....

Yeah, ironically I detonated it from inside the house this time because I ran out of ammo for my M4A1. I went back to get a AK from a dead guard.

This was a problem with the very first, original release version of the game. It's weird that you guys have this bug with the Steam version, since it should include the updates, right? There was a patch (b192), less than a month after the game came out, which fixed exactly this problem. From the original changelog file:

The following issues have been addressed in this patch:-
[...]
3) Planting bomb on "Say Hello..." no longer causes occasional crashes

yeah, well, people have different computers with different programs installed. A game as old as hitman is bound to have some kind of error, right?

anyways, yeah, problem solved by detonating in the house.

Sure, but it's still kind of weird that a fixed bug reappears on newer systems. For what it's worth, just to test it I tried detonating the bomb a few times outside of the house, far from the bunker, near the bunker, inside the bunker... I never had a crash, and that's on Direct3D. So it's not all systems that are affected.

What's also interesting though is that there is another fix from the b192 patch notes that seems unfixed: 7) ALT+TAB no longer breaks the in-game mouse pointer — I definitely encountered this one a number of times in the patched version.

Yeah, I had that too, but it didn't really bug me too often.

If you detonate while inside the bunker or right after you equip the detanator, the game will crash.

The bug is still there. I tried 2 times outside the house to detonate the bomb and the game crashed. I'll try soon from the house.
