every single time the game just crashes to desktop...i cant progress in the game any further...

I also changed the game renderer from Direct3D to 'Open GL' but just detonate the bomb from within the house and it should work. I too, am on Windows 7. The game does not let you detonate outside otherwise you'll immediately die and fail the mission or the game will crash on most PC's. It's a common bug and one that will most likely be fixed in the upcoming HD collection of the 4 old Hitman, classic games!

Also run the shortcut as admin. and remove any compatability settings (this will make the game run worse from my experience) ....

There are a number of proposed options out there, but here's what I've learned from experience and from people doing speedruns and figuring out all the crashes and whatnot... Basically, from my experience, D3D crashes consistently all the time with this explosion, I can't explain why, it just does for me personally. I did some looking, and sure enough, D3D is known in Hitman: Codename 47 to have issues and is known for crashing often, so for this mission (and Plutonium Runs Loose), I switch to OpenGL which runs worse, but what's better at the end of the day, completing the mission, or performance? Anyway, the speedrunner I watched explained that the crash is due to activating the bomb remote before it's fully pulled out and the animation is completed. Both have turned out to happen fairly consistently. I hope this helps you Hingle McCringleberry. :)
