WE NEED SEQUEL!
I don't think the game's potential ends there.
There is so much more to discover in this game mode: more classes, more maps, more modes, more enemies, and even multiplayer cooperation! ...
The official doesn't seem to want to continue the update, but I think it's a good idea to launch a sequel or a reset version

I would love multiplayer. That would enable you to defend larger islands with friends!

I was on the dev's twitter and one of the more recent things I could find was this, https://twitter.com/OskSta/status/1669315384619540487 which looks very bad north-y. It was June of 2023, so it was about a year ago. I'll continue to look at the page to see if there are any newer posts that pertain to the topic. As far as I can see, the developer stopped posting about townscaper in 2020/2021.

Also, just thought I should mention, but I don't have the game on steam, I play it on Play Station. A while ago, for fun, I made some concepts for new unit types and game modes, so this is something I really want. I may be a bit biased because I really want it lol.

This was posted about 2 months ago: https://twitter.com/OskSta/status/1758250248483278925
I've seen a couple other posts dated 2022 and 2023, another recent one I found was in November 2023. Most of the posts after 2020 are about this, with one occasionally about nature, and I saw one about a wordle to townscaper converter someone made, but nothing about the development of townscaper. From what I can see, this is the main thing He's been working on since townscaper was finished.

Just found this post dated march 15th, one month ago, which appears to use the same procedural generation.

The wording is also a bit suspicious; "for reasons I will not be explaining at this point, I have gone and put it on a sphere". Could be a test, but doesn't look exactly like Bad North sadly. It could be the start of another strategy game that pulls inspiration from Bad North.

I also just found this; https://twitter.com/OskSta/status/1769303156096221649 Oskar's drawings of some knights/vikings which are somewhat reminiscent of those seen in Bad North, but not identical. But this doesn't necessarily mean much by itself in my opinion, as I've only seen this and one other drawing with the vikings on a crab; nothing else related.

Edit: This is three separate comments I made on a different post merged into one, so thats why I said "I just found" A couple times.

The game is very popular in my country. I really hope devs see this potential and give us a sequel.

Lot of room for improvment too. I always wonder why no sequal on these gfames that have such cool ideas that could fo a lot further but it tends to take forever. Like darkwood kenshi legionarys life star sector ewct
While I can appreciate a dev that likes to experiment with new ideas, it's unfortunate to see something like this with so much potential just be dropped. There's a fledgling modding community that might bring about some of these ideas though; it's probably what the dev would want since it frees them up to continue experimenting and developing what they like with new games.

two years past, still we need sequel!
Yeah, we really need one, I never saw a game like this before.

why did we never get a sequel? the sales seemed to be pretty good and the game was really liked by fans and news outlets.
