Great overall, but item icons are so pixelated & simplified that readability really suffers.
Some items are fine, like a bow, armor pieces, etc.
But icons for items like produce (potato, bread, etc) are unreadable. Makes it difficult to understand what's shown at a glance. Also makes item tracking window useless without doing a mouse-over every item in the list every other time.

Might want to make those icons a little bigger and more readable.

As for me, everything is fine.
I would recommend just letting modders make their tilesets with a higher resolution than the game has. And already they, in turn, will make such tilesets that will satisfy the players. As for the animated tiles, let's have a few frames slots for this.
How to describe? Alternatively - something like raw-files from Dwarf Fortress.

Yep, agreed. I have lots of plans for modding support. :)

Hi, sorry to revive this very old topic, but I still feel exactly the same and I wanted to let you know.
I'm really glad to learn that in the long term you plan to make it possible for modders to change the tileset AND the resolution of the tiles.
I *love* the pixel art, I love this UI, the game is great, but I don't want to play any more because of a lack of readability and lack of immersion.
Maybe allowing changing the tileset and more pixels per tiles is easier for you to accomplish than a full modding system... Hope you will enable this soon !
