Game crashing after first level completion

Have you found a fix for this yet? I can't solve it and it's really annoying.

Compatibility mode and a no-cd version of the executable worked for me. Alternatively, try turning your resolution down to 1024x768; that fixed my game crashing after Curtains Down. Kind of shameful how this is an unstable mess—my CD copy worked fine a few years ago, and I was playing that on Windows 7 as well.

Tried compatability mode and the resolution fix, still crashes. Most annoying thing is I have to do the first mission every time to check every change that might fix it.

Try tabbing out just as you escape the level (when your screen is black, before the newspaper comes up and you get an error message). That's all I can think of right now. Currently reinstalling my copy in the hope that it fixed my problem.

I'm experiencing the same problem. I was so hyped to be able to play this game now that i have an acceptable system, but it crashes all every single time

Real shame, I have played this so many times on 360 but come on, I want to relive the glory.

Almost curious on this was refound so late after it was published, but thanks guy for trying to debunk this, it`s a shame overall but c`est la vie. If anyone finds anything or anyone after somehow finds this don`t be afraid to post.

Setting the Shader Quality to High (Shadermodel 2) in the configuration utility fixed this problem for me.

Nope, gets to the newspaper as usual then after a few seconds it crashes.

I got past the first mission. I was able to do the third one(counting the hideout) and it crashed during the newspaper part again. It seems to me like everytime i zoomed in a read the paper that's where it crashes for me. It's a shame since it's one of my most favorite features in this franchise.

setting the resolution to 1024x768 fixed that^^ for me. But higher resolutions haven't worked so far. I have no idea what's causing it at all.

I don't even get to zoom in it just straight up crashes after a few seconds. Too tired of replaying the level to keep testing it. Hopefully the sale brings up a fix from people buying it.

One thing I also did was install the 1.2 patch. Just search the net for it. It told me it was already installed though so unlikely that is what fixed it.
