And yes, suspicion goes up a bit after accidents. But if you don't do anything stupid, guards are unlikely to shoot you. And don't stand close to them for a long period of time, just in case.
Yeah, it was a glitch. Tried it again and worked fine. I still went back and did my prefered Sniper Rifle from the light control room route anyway. More fun than waiting between sets of that long ass play to make the switch.

An opera IS a play.... the word play is interchangeable with 'drama', which can be done in many ways, including through song and instrumentals.
