lots of problems with update

well done for braking games that worked good and not even fixing the issues that were present with C3 and removing multiplayer and cheats for no reason...

what even was the point in this update? it hasn't improved anything other than resolution which was already possible with widescreen patches, just things taken out of the game and only a 50/50 chance of working atall.

give a reason why you removed multiplayer atleast, you didnt mention that in the changelog did you... but the stuff actually mentioned seems to be half made up if you ask me, such as c3 colour problem still there, the only real problem that needed to be fixed.

why not something like a remake? some guy did a free html5 remake by himself in 8 months, pyro could easily make a lot more cash if they did a remake I think

For frack sake, modern programmers cant do a one thing right when they touch old games and screwing them so badly.

I think they deserve some credit for trying to get this old classsic working on newer systems, give them time and im sure they will sort things out

i am gonna change my review to negative on store page i am ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ done with this ♥♥♥♥. they killed my solution for booting C2 with this last update. the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hell are they doing????? the games do NOT even boot how the ♥♥♥♥ they releaes updates when it does not even boot????? it crashe right on start up with fatal error.

But all the games were already fine on modern systems, it was only Commandos 3 that had trouble on new systems and that still has it's colour issues etc after the update. Why fix something that wasn't broken in the first place? Especially at the cost of multiplayer, cheats, compatibility with mods etc. And not even have decency to mention they removed it. I'd understand if it was a complete remake of the game but this isn't.

yes same here, can't get c2 nor legacy version working, i managed to get bel working even though it keeps crashing, and c3 works but the colour issues they said they fixed in changelog are still there

they deserver punishment for trying so bad. Cmon every game of entire series crashes on Win 7 x64, freaking 4 games in row with same bug! Xp compatiblity broken, mulitplayer and other things removed for no reason.

If it aint broken, dont fix it.

Instead of just fixing what was really broken they broke everything!

Oh and they wasted double space for legacy version instead of using steam beta branches for testing new updates and keeping legacy version as prime build until pathch fixed and then move this legacy build to beta patch.
Also its not same version as we had before.

Wow, devs of this patch are idiots! Even legacy version does not work because they have no understanding of what is WORKING DIRECTORY.

Basically game launched from legacy directory looking for assets in root directory and crash.

Steam sets game root directory as working one, in my case:
"J:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Commandos 2 Men of Courage\"
yet exe runs from
"J:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Commandos 2 Men of Courage\Legacy\comm2.exe"

When you launch it directly without steam it works because legacy becomes a working dir.

this is why instead of doing stupid legacy folder they should use steam beta branches ro downgrade game and test patches before rolling them out.

Wow, thats low - so they somehow obtained pulbishing rights, did cheap untested patch that breaks game, took down fan's remake and rolloed out patch simply to remind about game and boost sales.
Despite my love to game, this scam cheap publisher really deserves all commandos games to be stopped from being sold on steam after this.
Reported on store page that game as broken, other guys did as well, few more guys and Valve may remove games from store. That will teach this scam publisher a fair business practice and some respect to customers.

Damn, they cant even properly add legacy version to steam beta branch and half of games has legacy version missing, other does not work because game expects root folder as working one, while it sits in legacy folder.

Theres difference between criticizing and flat out having a tantrum, why shouldn't people criticize the update when it worked for much more people before update but now only 50% of people, if they moved these updates to the separate beta tab before releasing then I wouldn't mind as much because they clearly need more testing before release instead of forcing it upon everyone. If no one complained then you'd see a lot more scam artists, lazy jobs etc released as "games" such as War Z etc.

None of the Commandos games work for me. They were all working fine before the patch. I tried everything. Compability, renaming .exe's, verifying cache, re-downloading the games. Nothing works.

Can you guys stop whining? Does it help? NO. Im glad they finally trying to fix this game.
Maybe for you guys it worked flawless but for many that wasnt the case. Instead of going full ret ard mode and be angry you better give them the info they need. Play some other game meanwhile.. jeeeees.
