Might even for the better at this point Worldslayers was never worth 40€/$ in the eyes of the players, nor is it from my point of view - which is the source of the negative reviews overall, price point.
I think if this game would celebrate a 2nd revival, it might be considerable again.
They have been cooking on a "Project Gemini" with Square Enix who was their partner for Outriders, but have also on the early year laid off many developers on the project and probably not going to finish it
And that's on the side of other games being developed at the same time all of them at "Project" stages with partnerships with Take-Two and Microsoft
So I wouldn't expect anything to do with Outriders due to bad negotiations with Enix for some time being
Personally, I hope it uses my story idea of the Outrider and their team, which could be same as the first game or new, since the last bastion of humanity is a hybrid of the two former factions.
The Outrider and the team find an incredibly powerful Pax altar, and with the time and space bending abilities of the Anomaly, they're able to send themselves back in time to before the Caravel arrives, or around the same time. Time travel is loosely hinted at in game already.
With their abilities, the Outrider and the Pax, who are understandably confused by the new arrivals, are able to bridge the communication gap through mental communication, eventually allowing the Pax to learn our language, and vice versa.
We warn them of the Caravel's arrival, and that the occupants will blame the Pax for the storms, when they're the only thing keeping the planet safe for our arrival. Even as an the Apex Altered, you can't face 8,000 fanatical soldiers alone, so you can't protect the Pax themselves.
Perhaps August was attempting a ritual, but in their weakened state couldn't do it right. Maybe the Ferals aren't actually feral and attack everything on sight, but when they turn, are instead focused on whatever enemy made them turn, as I don't recall hearing of Ferals attacking Pax. It made sense the first time around for them to target us, they would've seen us as the same as the Caravel monsters. This time around, they could be focused against JUST the Caravel, under the command of the Outriders, who helps them distinguish innocent from enemy, as there were good people on the Caravel, just not enough.
Could be a number of interesting plot lines, Feral/Pax who view you as no different than the Caravel. Recruiting elements of the Caravel crew who aren't murderous barbarians to your side, and sabotage their defences, and steal their comms equipment so when the Flores arrives, you're the one making contact, not the Caravel.
The effective goal would be to contain the Caravel crew to it's landing site until the Flores arrives and can reinforce. This time around, since the Pax survived to manage the Anomaly, we can communicate with the Flores, perhaps using turned Caravel crew rather than the Outrider, since time-travel would be far-fetched to them at this point.
Once they say who the Captain of the Caravel is, the Flores will know he's a criminal and will move to help protect the Pax, likely with the Outriders, until the settlement in the Valley can be established and more aid sent. The forest wouldn't be toxic, since that was the Anomaly's doing, so getting to the Caravel with weapons and vehicles likely wouldn't take very long. At which point, they arrest the leaders of the Caravel, and formalise a peace with the Pax, who will have Ferals as protectors from any rogue actors on our side.
