In terms of gameplay it would be like a mix of mass effect and the division, weapons+super skills....and a looter shooter.
With the abilities its more akin to something like Mass Effect with your super powers and Borderlands with the loot but its fast paced like Doom Eternal.
This game is very much like Division / Division 2 in how it works as a cover shooter, except incoming damage is more forgiving. If you are caught out of cover you're not dead in seconds.
They force a aggressive playstyle and power use with self-healing tied to doing damage in certain ways.
World wise I think they completely F'ed it up by going for post-apocalypse Metro like setting that is also implausible based on how the prologue looked. The beautiful world you see in the prologue and with less entrenched settlements would have been better. Somehow these people survived 30 years killing each other and without any infrastructure to feed and arm themselves.
Just from the art direction and character outfits it looks really ugly and I'm already turned off from that. Thank God for Korean devs and upcoming games like The First Descendent, even if those will be more intense on my graphics card.
Would still have given it a chance because the bits of storytelling I've seen looks good, very emotionally charged.
However I got connection errors to the Outriders server. Twice in two days is not a fluke, it's an ongoing issue. Not paying for that, even at a discount.
Here it's more stats based. You can't dodge much. You need like in Doom (2016 & eternal) to continuously fire on ennemies at the proper range (class dependent) to heal you.
What is nice is the death animations, seeing health bar of ennemies emptying.
Graphics are good with good shaders but mostly rigid. I mean nothing is breakable and you are stuck against a wooden box as if it was made of concrete.
One of the biggest reasons I didn't get this game was the "STUPID, PATHETIC, MIND BLOGGING, ASININE, DUMB ASSE" always online requirement. Once they remove it, I may get the game.
