You could always solo it.
Um not according to the skill up review

Here's the exact wording provided to me by the developers, People Can Fly, in their review guide:

"The Trial of Tarya Gratar works a little bit differently from the rest of the game - it's balanced for three players and doesn't scale down for single players or duos in quite the same way the campaign does, and is not intended to be soloable at the highest apocalypse tiers.

Read the correction in the pinned comment.

It scales like the rest of the game and can be solo'ed like expeditions.

It can be but its way harder solo than with 2+ player cause you lose the revive cycles and the wave sizes are the same for solo as it is for 2+ players.

They have less health when you're alone, so while in multiplayer if you have 3 people that's more that can spread out and kill stuff sure but it also means each player takes long to kill stuff and you could end up carrying players that already have a hard time solo and them going into multiplayer just makes it harder for them. When I'm solo I can clear an entire area with the cast of one ability but when with other players it'll take a second ability to finish them off.
