Devastator still bad?

I started a Devastator build and have had pretty good fun leveling ....I've tried to keep to solo play since the couple of rides out in multiplayer have been trying

I have to say I have no problem really with survivability...but leveling 48 and 49 have been hard enough and now trying for gold CT14 is just not happening

Anomaly build...but no legendary set yet

Do I have to firepower it and then change to anomaly?

Devastator damage still limited...

Can I grind out the bleed legendary set CT 13....

Or do I have to multiplayer...?

I had to go multiplayer to level my Trickster and Technomancer. The grind is definitely easier in co-op, but note that you may experience some kicking.

Really?...that still a thing..

The few matches I did join I was reviving left and right...but yeah...damage in the time given for gold would be way way down on techno bullet builds...

Devastator is not weak. I did around 379 million damage on CT15 with a 3 piece statue set.

Devastator was never bad. I made it to CT15 using a AP bleed build with no parts of the set or fortress in solo. You just need to do levels like archways/scorched lands that have a super generous timer so you can gold without all the bells and whistles.

I run moaning winds bleed built a mountain of damage its still hard to solo CT15 and gold it.
In groups you will regularly do the most damage of everyone and never die.

You can make several different AP deva builds with either impale or leap.

"Still bad?"?

Deva has never been bad, it is probably the strongest overall class in the game. Capable of facetanking and dpsing like a madman with the same build, while requiring no defensive modding to do so.

It can do all expos at CT15 in epic gear, aside from Boom Town (in my case) on gold. Might have to pick them more selectively if you dont have access to fortress right out the door.

It is all about staying close to the enemy and proccing anomaly surge over and over through your skills and melee. The more you progress the more close ranged stuff you'll get, like moaning winds, stronger melee and so on. And with the right build your melee can buff you with up to 100%+ resistance pierce (given enough mods are around you) which will also increase your anomaly power with the right mods used.

OK... I'll look into using melee more...I made it to level 15 with the kind help of a bit of a carry from a Pyro today...level 50 gear at the moment and I can solo everything...just not in time...bronze boomtown CT14...so I have a way to go...

I'm enjoying the in ya face fights...and don't mind the long fights...just obviously no good for gold times...so will look to max damage output and search for those legendary pieces...

Don't worry much about not getting gold/silver/bronze in your current CT. Just drop down below a few CT tiers and bomb rush trough them. I got gold on chem town CT13 like a few seconds before it went silver.

in my experience each class is strong but it has to be built a certain way. Looking at legendary sets, the Devastator has the most straight forward sets.

Is the drop rate OK if you gold CT13...I suppose it takes forever to earn the resources to upgrade any drops two levels...

Since the drop rate buff getting gold in CT13 has a higher drop chance than what you used to get for getting gold in a CT15. So just do whatever you can do comfortably. You get a lot of resources for doing the higher CT runs so you will have all the resources you are ever gonna need very soon. You can turn pod resources into scrap and Titanium as well if you need to and they have pretty good conversion rates. You can always consider force dropping set parts from hunts using the alt f4 trick as well to get a lego set set up quickly.
