Small weapon adjustments.
Honestly the weapons feel great and I do enjoy using them. Especially the Super Shotgun. Its just so satisfying.

But I think some weapons could do with minor adjustments.

Pistols: I think statswise the Pistols are in a good spot but they feel a lil too inaccurate. So increasing their accuracy would definitely benefit them and also make players use them more often instead of only going back to them as kind of a last resort weapon when you're out of ammo for everything else.

I think its never good for a weapon to be seen as a last resort thing. Every weapon should be enjoyable to use at any time when the player feels like it.

Machinegun: Same with the Pistols I just feel like its way to innaccurate once you go full auto. And that sucks because this kind of weapon should most likely encourage players to go full bullet rain mode when you see a big crowd of enemies but you barely hit stuff when you do.

So an accuracy buff would be greatly appreciated for this weapon if you ask me. Plus maybe 50 extra bullets for the ammo pool.

Mortar: Well where to start with this thing... To me honestly it feels like the most useless weapon in the game right now. Sure I can see thats its more seen as a skillshot weapon. Like hitting enemies around corners and behind stuff where you couldnt see them but...

It just feels really weak. It does 300 damage per shot as far as I saw but for the slow firing rate and especially slow projective speed it just doesnt do enough damage. Maybe double up the damage to 600 to compensate for being so slow or increase the firing speed.

Especially once I had the Riveter. Theres literally no reason for me to use that thing ever in any of my playthroughs.
Plus maybe a slight visual upgrade. Compared to the other weapons it feels a lil bland to look at. But thats optional.

But yeah thats basically my opinion about these weapons. You can make your own one of course. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
I would also find it decent to see what the devs think about these adjustments IF they come across this discussion.

Thanks for reading and sorry for my crappy english skills.

I think the Pistols are fine, especially when you get the x4 shooting boost! Same with the LMG; those are supposed to be inaccurate when you hold down the trigger. Accuracy at range is for the Hunting Rifle or Riveter.

I agree on the Mortar. I think that adding a quicker detonation trigger would be great, but OP as all get out when MP is released?

My biggest concern is the Crossbow, I just haven't found a place for it in my arsenal unless I'm out of ammo...

The crossbow is amazing! It shoots trough walls! I've been cleaaring out houses before opening the door. This really sets you up for some very coool looking runs once you fully memorize enemy placement. Def my favorite weapon in the game right now.

Yeah I think the problem is dual pistols (not single pistol) are fairly inaccurate even at close range. Example in Ghost Town, try to shoot the gas tank through the broken brick wall at the far end of the town. Ideally should be able to tag it with your first bullet (not holding the trigger down), but you can still easily end up missing a couple of shots.

Yeah I agree with the Crossbow actually. Its pretty good in clearing out rooms before you even enter em. Which makes the Mortar even less useful. Why shoot a mortar over a wall or around a corner to clear out enemies when the Crossbow does it even better?

In MP yes I can see the Mortar being more viable. Like as example setting up a few trap grenades and then detonate em when another player gets close but we shall see once the game is fully released.

Of course I wouldnt want to make the game any easier by buffing weapons and making them OP. I love it when stuff is challenging but again I still think the spread pattern of the Dual Pistols and Machinegun should be decreased by around 20 to 30%.

Completely agree on the mortar, it's feels really bad. Sometimes it's like it deals "no damage". Even if the grenade feels very close.

I don't really have an issue with the MG, if anything, it could deal just slightly more damage perhaps.

The grenade launcher needs some work, because it feels awful at the moment. Make the projectiles explode in contact with enemies (enemies only) and increase the responsiveness of the detonate button.

Everything else feels great IMO.

I kind of agree. I think awful is a bit much but I do think it would be a lot better if direct hits detonated on impact.

I think, by just removing that press-detonate cooldown might do a lot for that weapon.

o.O I just tried this tactic, badass!!!

I have to agree with the mortar, it needs a damage buff. Too many situations where it should shine it just ends up being useless in. WAY too many enemies can tank it, where in say, Quake, they would be knocked far away from the blast in not insta-killed.

And as stated earlier, once you have the Riveter, there is literally not reason to ever use the mortar again.

I agree with the pistols being a last resort. It sucks the most when you're next to mountains of pistol ammo, but you have no use for the stuff.

I also have a problem with the hunting rifle. It's a solid weapon, but the issue is how little it can hold. For me, it's more like a fork maiden or scarecrow slayer when I'm not really in the mood to deal with said enemies. I'm too arfaid to waste its ammunition otherwise because I don't have much of it. However, I've been sticking to the easier difficulties, so when I tackle the challenging ones, the hunting rifle could prove to be a gun I constantly equip.

The assault rifle always has perfect accuracy with the first bullet, so you can use it with perfect accuracy by tapping fire instead of holding it. Because of this it doesn't really need an accuracy buff IMO.

chicken paste Aug 31, 2017 @ 8:20am
it should explode on contact with enemies
