"This free, community made Mod requires that you own and install Half-Life."

Even though I have Half Life 1 installed (and Blue Shift and Opposing Force too) Steam tells me while I'm trying to install this mod that "This free, community made Mod requires that you own and install Half-Life.". I have tried to restart Steam a couple times now. I've also turned my pc on and off, with no results. Any tips?


EDIT: It should be noted that this problem is exclusive to C.A.G.E.D, I seem to be able to dowload and install other Half Life 1 mods through Steam with no problems.

Have you tried uninstalling half life, uninstalling C.A.G.E.D., then reinstalling both? This usually works for me.

Thanks for you comment. I have tried to uninstall half life 1 a few times now, unfortunately it has no effect. I can't uninstall C.A.G.E.D though, as I can't get as fas as to install it (because whenever I try it, Steam tells me that I need to own and install Half-Life, which I already do). Rather unfortunate, as I really want to try this mod :(

I do own "Half-Life: Source" and I am unable to run the "Caged" mod, it is said "I need to own a version of the base game".
In the library I get to know that the mod is "already in your Steam library"
Result: not working.

I assume this is because you need the original version, that is, Half-Life , which runs on a different engine. Your game runs on Source engine (hence: Half Life: Source ) ,and as far as I know this mod doesn't work on that.

I have no version of Half-Life installed whatsoever, but I do have the original Counter-Strike installled and C.A.G.E.D worked.

I installed the original Counter-Strike, but unfortunately nothing happened. When I go to the store page and try to install C.A.G.E.D, the same thing popsup:" Half Life C.A.G.E.D is a mod and requires you to own the base game." But thanks anyway!

Someone else suggested this, however the end result is the same: a tiny steam window opens with a message: " Half Life C.A.G.E.D is a mod and requires you to own the base game.". But thanks though.

I have CS1, I'm receving the same message "Half Life C.A.G.E.D is a mod and requires you to own the base game.", I played others mods of half life 1, why can't i play this one?

Same issue. Can't install despite having Half Life (not source), CSS, and other games installed.
