If you play on easy mode (with AI partner), sure. Otherwise, the difficulty is about the same. All depends on your build, and you can melt the bosses on NG if you want, but they can melt you as well.
Is it a good game? That's debatable, IMO. General consensus is that it's a solid 7/10 which is already above average but not great compare to ER who gets 8-9/10.
Also, about the A.I. Companion, builds and such, these arguments can be said for ER too.
The Mimics that the player gets to summon before a battle (they apparently had to nerf that, I saw someone being AFK to the toilet while their mimic would ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ solo-curbstomp a boss.... The Code Vein companions are OP but they are not that OP), OP builds, overpowered/broken skills.... Just to name a few (I'm not that deep into ER as I don't own the game.... yet). Heck, in ER it's even worse over there because of the PvP and invasion aspect.
Literally in games like this, the difficulty largely banks on the players themselves. This is why the "gaming medias" are constantly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and whining about "easy mode" (because they don't know how to play the game which isn't suprising) and why the SoulsBourne fansbase/playerbase has an ego problem (because they purposely went in their way to make the game harder for themselves).
Other than that its nice having a dedicated dodge key and run key, muscle memory is gonna ♥♥♥♥ you bad though if you played a couple hundred hours of ER. Story is set up as more of a standard rpg story, giving you some of the story elements as part of the natural progression of the game. If you missed having that in ER this will be a + but story is pretty generic so far and also probably tainted by the anime look of the game making some of the serious moments feel more comical than probably intended.
EDIT: Oh yeah forgot this game has much better tits and ass mechanics which is always a plus. The game loves backstabs though so if it looks like there could be an ambush there is and there's one in that spot that doesn't look like one.
I felt like it had nice character creator but that's about it. Everything else in the game just feels weak and unpolished. And if you absolutely had to make Dark Souls comparison it's like Dark Souls 2 but flashier. By this I mean that it has that unsatisfying weightless feeling to it. :/
Code Vein is good as a story driven game with souls like combat, but thats about it.
