what formulates strength or damage of the weapon is
weapon stats
weapon scaling
blood code scaling
level attribute
the way you choose to build your character in this game is extemely unique
there's 32 bloodcodes in the game
all have different scaling and stats applied to blood veil / weapon
your character is not that stat base, your level just add stats for the blood veil to scale from, and same with weapon
the revenant is an extension of the blood veil and weapon
consumable items are very handy in this game, learn to use them
if you have questions you can send me a message
i know this game entirely
I farmed first maps a lot and am now level 50 despite being only like 10% in the game
Basically i have no idea what im doing and if its good
Not to mention im not exactly adding type and more importantly, im on steam phone rather than on pc which is in offline mode so chat is gone
Each piece of gear has stat requirements. If you don't fullfill those requirements then you can't use that gear at all. And like CannedZephyr said, Stats come entirely from your Equiped bloodcode. Levels have ZERO effect on those Stats.
It is also entirely possible to play most soulslikes in tank mode. But yeah, the intended playstyle is to dodge like there's no tomorrow and strike when the opponent gives you an opening. Also, the weight only effects the speed of your dodgeroll. Walking speed is unaffected.
Both.
After you unlock a skill (both passive and active) it only unlocks for that class. In the skill menu you should see a bar under that unlocked skill. That bar fills up as you use it and once it is full you unlock the ability to use that skill with any class.
You can also pay some resources right away to skip that process.
I got that one passive skill i want from louis and then from shop babe which like buffs you against poison.
Dont know if i got materials for the skip because im all out of queen iron.
Oh and most importantly
Does carrying other weapons and armor weight you down?
Like the ones you dont use
I havent placed anything into storage yet or sold...
Guess il focus on combat melee more because i cant dodge at all
Got slow reflexes and always run out of stamina by spamming roll
But i been doing that the whole time on first map and still it didnt leveled up
you need to have the skill equiped for it to gain exp. open your inventory, in the middle is your class. to the right are slots for active skills and to the left of it are empty slots for passive skills. select an empty slot to equip a skill to that slot.
also, the mats you need for skills are those "awakener MJ [some number]" items.
Yeah, Soulslikes have "game be hard" as one of their main selling points and the only advice you often get is to "git gud". Though in my opinion Code vein is one of the easiest games of the genre thanks to the free and permanent companions you get right from the get go.
If you are playing with companions on: switch to yakumo asap. He's way better than louis.
Also, check the armor selection in the weapons shop. That's were you can get the tankiest armor for were you are in the game right now and berserker should be able to equip it.
speaking of berserker. It's the bully class. grab an axe and laugh as you stunlock everything into oblivion.
Other passive skills got the checkmark on them and those are mostly from fight and berserker classes.
I switched to louis class now because i dont have the passive skill on berserker.
And yeah i those MJ mats but only 19 of em, dunno if i wanna use it right away given i heard there are way better skills like...long journey? Something like that
Using even weaker sword now because other 2 main ones, louis class has them on slow movement.
Have yakumo as ally now given miu almost got me killed to close combat aka raid event.
Louis was my companion for longest till he insta died on stripper boss so i switched back to yakumo.
And yeah i had an axe on berserker class but man holds in both but swings with one
Sword kind of felt lighter so i used that despite like 30-40 weaker damage compared to the axe
Heavy armor is slower or heavier so i kind of dont use them
I got like 7 armors but can only equip 1 anyways.
Also is it worth to gift companions?
Louis gives an axe but for 50 points bruh
The skill you're talking about is funnily enough one of the few that is hard locked to the class it comes from so don't bother saving up for it.
The skills with a checkmark are mastered and can be used with any class.
Louis 1 handed sword skill, does it also apply to 1 handed axe then 🤔
Still got no idea how to master it tho
Defeat the enemy... I sure hope it dosent mean a boss or an enemy in new area
Now at the church part

Notice how on this screen the selected skill has a partially filled bar under it? that bar slowly fills up every time I kill any enemy while I have that skill actively equiped and the skill is considered mastered once the bar is full.
maybe check your skill screen to see if you have made any progress in mastering the sword skill.
also, the game doesn't differentiate between one and two handed axes. Axe is Axe.
Have fun at the church. It is widely considered the worst area in the game thanks to its confusing layout.
i killed about maybe 60 enemies so far and its only moved maybe by 10% lol
guess i can skip it but need 18k haze and 9 of mj mats
church i might do in few hours because my friend who hates anime but likes souls like games wanna do it
Numbing Mark is a skill of the Assassin Blood Code, which you find in the very same map the "Howling Pit" as the Invading Executioner Boss.
