Last boss [spoilers]
So I knew that Virgin Born was the last boss, but I didn't know the game basically ends after beating it. I had two Depths maps unexplored, and some memories unrestored. I know it's my own fault, but I thought that even after beating the last boss, I'll have the time to just explore (like in some other games).

So, next time should I stop after beating Skull King and complete all the Depths and finsih restoring memories? And only then fight Virgin Born?

No, wait I forgot that VB fight starts right after beating SK. So I have to stop before fighting Skull King.

Btw, I gave up on my solo playthrough for the last two bosses. I guess I could've beat the Skull King, but Virgin Born second phase was a complete nightmare. Even with Io, it took me 5 tries.

Once you beat Virgin Born and you watch the credits and everything, you're put back in the title screen. When you load the game, you'll just be right before the Virgin Born fight. You can still freely explore and clean up whatever maps you desire unless you chose to start a New Game+ run.

Yeah, as Grim said, you're free to clear out everything after the final boss, and you select *when* you want to start NG+ from the "exit" door from your main base (along with whether you'd like to ramp up the difficulty the next playthrough, or keep it the same).

The confusion is because in the Good ending, there's an interactive scene in the hideout where you get to talk to all the former Successors. That scene ends by interacting with the same exit door that would start NG+, and the text that appears when you do so sounds like it's going to switch to NG+ afterward ("you cannot return" type thing).

Point is though once you leave the postgame party via the door, you get another cutscene, then credits, then back to the main menu and finally you get dropped back to right before fighting Virgin Born (but now with the NG+ option available)
