They added an option a while a go that lets you hide the Blood Veil, so you can just see the upper body of your selected clothing.
The weapons are pretty similar to Armour, in regard to variety. A few basic types and some variations for each type.
I played through the game the first time with mostly the same equipment until about halfway through when I switched out my main weapon. Your mileage may vary. I am not a big fan of most of the weapon designs in this game, so it was hard for me to find something that I liked the look of, and liked using. The same with armour. Nowadays I mostly turn off the Blood Veils and customise my looks with normal clothing.
You just need to save a character appearance from the character creator, and then load the appearance from the mirror. The customisations you save at the mirror are tied to the character you currently play, but appearances (saved from the character creator at the start of a new game, or from the mirror) are available to all characters to switch to.
So you can not freely change body size or gender at the mirror, but you can start a new game, and change a previously saved appearance freely, then save over it or save it in a new slot, then exit and load your game to apply the changes at the mirror.
