For example Black Greatsword unique traces is it deal Slash and Crush type of damage(and have higher drain than other GS), while for example Oni Bane have more atk but do only Slash.
So you are likely to go as a stagger build to make up for dmg that you missing out with Black greatsword.
Black Greatsword for life. It's fast, it's reliable and it sweeps twice on its light combo, meaning even if you miss the first swing you hit with the others.
It has an AOE as heavy smash attack, and a nice telegraphed hit as light smash attack.
It has decent scaling, and low weight.
Cool design too, although Warped Blade that shares its light moveset is even better.
Use it with Devour upgrade, and you will become an unstoppable brawler.
Other swords that have horizontal/angular moves, such as Oni Bane, Queenslayer or Blade of Judgements don't cause these Shockwaves.
Swords that do, Zweihander /Argent Brand have much slower smashes, that are far more narrow - and the middle horizontal slash doesn't cause them at all.
So it's the best sword to use with that awesome Gift. I also like its charge tripping roll, though Oni Bane has the same move.
