Successor of the throat made me drop my Prometheus build
I play ng+ advanced and I swear, the guy who decided that Eva would have 90% resistance to physical damage (don’t know if to all, but slashing yes) is a moron. With all buffs and Luis Blade I had 1500-1800 attack per hit, plus increasing damage by “Blade dance”. But man, 200 damage per hit, really?? This boss is cancer that made me to take Queen code and just anihilate her with ice. Why does this #### even exists? It was okey with Nikola boss, cause he has armor, but difference is that All nikola attacks gives you space for attack. Eva-monster in 2nd stage absolutely love doing combo-vombo making you dodge infinitely, f.e. her lovely sand sharks. She absolutely love doing 1st back sharks that go from end of all arena to middle, than right after cast normal sharks , that go from her to all sides, then when you dodge all this she also make sand wall that rises from her to your direction and you can’t see this most time because previous sand sharks moving together block vision.
Seriously reduce her resistance to physical damage, I don’t want to change blood code because you made me, I want to change it by my own will. I am not masochist.

thats the thing, you arnt getting more damage, you are in fact -losing- your damage for even applying it on a boss that resists it. it doesnt just add ice damage; it makes your weapon ice damage. honestly how hard is it to understand that. the fact the dummy shows added damage is because it has no resist to elements to begin with. its far more better to just use buffs that flat out increase damage with no elemental effects
pretty sure gifts/cartridges have no negative downsides, should only be transforming a weapon that kills its damage.

To answer this in a more polite way for you TC. Normally in soulsborne(-like) games, when you enchant a weapon, it makes the base/physical do less damage and decreases scaling while compensating for the loss of damage/scaling by adding elemental damage (either flat damage or scaling).

So let's say you have a straightsword that does 200 damage before enemy defense or scaling is calculated. You change it to a fire straightsword. Now it only does 100 physical damage + 100 fire damage (which equals 200 damage altogether). In souls like games, it's normally sub-optimal to use enchanted (or what is commenly referred to as "split damage" weapons) because of the way enemy defense works UNLESS the enemy is known to be weak to the element or you have your build set up to do so much rediculous damage that it compensates for the enemies defense.

Back to our scenario. Let's say you go up against a boss that has 25% physical resistance and 50% fire resistance. If you use your 200 damage straightsword, you'll do 150 damage (200 - 25% = 150). If you use your fire sword, you will do 125 damage ((100 physical - 25% = 75) + (100 fire - 50% = 50)). Then that's not even including stat scaling etc...

Now, in the soulsborne series, there were buffs that just added flat elemental damage to physical weapons. So if you had a 200 damage straightsword and applied a fire resin on it that adds say, 100 fire damage, there was no loss since regardless of the enemies fire resistance, you where still using a 200 physical damage straightsword. Now, I don't know (as I haven't bothered to pay attention) if Code Vein's buffs work the same way, but their elemental enchantments do. That's why everybody's yelling at you like " JALALALA NEWBZ, NO WUNDER YUR DOIN SO LIL DAMIG".

Hope that helps atleast explain damage types for you.

Good hunting!

Man, you are kidding right? You said that elemental buff makes less damage, i showed you are wrong, now you are talking about boss resistance. Even with resist elemental buff gives additional damage.
my god you are dumb. this entire thread is talking about a specific boss. its been documented elemental buffs LOSE their damage and in fact make it lower when attacking bosses with high resist. just because YOU DO MORE DAMAGE ON THE DUMMY doesnt mean ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to bosses. in fact you auto lost this argument even trying to bring up dummy damages.
successor of the throat is weak to ice , neutral to fire and blood and resist lightning. So ice buffs should give you extra dmg if you use any kind of weapon. In this boss you will only lose damage if you use a fire/blood or lightning buff
