Invasions are just constant waves of enemies you have to deal with until the last spawned enemy falls but this specific invasion that you're talking about in particular doesn't have a vestige (the red shard) if I recall and serves nothing more than for loot and haze however, yes, some of the invasions are triggered when you near a vestige.

I would said that they trigger on specific location.
just throwin' it out there. invasions should include a pvp aspect where one or two enemy players enter as the last opponents but that spawn somewhere randomly throughout the map. that'd cause so much chaos and add more replay value and purpose to the game if they add this via a patch update.

The PVP in this game, if there is any, must be so horrible... I can't see this game being fit to hold a good PVP match.

I like the waves of enemies. I found one at this place that I think it looks a lot like Anor Londo and I had a very hard time in there haha. Mia even said that would be best if we could "cool down". It's 5am over here and I need to sleep anyway...

Invasions will give you rewards after you cleared out the waves of enemies it provides. At first, they will trigger when you reach a specific location. After you cleared that specific location, there will be a red glowing item on the ground where you can interact if you want to fight the invasion again.

The enemies and their drops give more haze than the invasion reward itself so you can skip them. Though I do recommend picking up any items around the invasion area and YEET out of the area asap.

Yep that was what i did lately XD

The machanic itself seems okay but the waves just seems too long sometimes.

First off, if you want PVP invasions so badly, go to Dark Souls. Not every game needs PVP. If you can't handle invasions there, then why are you asking for it here?

Second, that idea is bad because there are too many logistical concerns in terms of player readiness and balancing invaders.

Lastly, the lore of this game suggests that if you invaded as a Lost, your game ends. Why? Because the Lost have no sense of self. They cannot return to their previous state of mind so your MC becomes incapable of finishing the story.
