I, personally, have had the most success parrying with Stinger, but I'm told they're the slowest type to parry with, while parrying with Hounds is the hardest for me.

I believe from my informal testing that the Claw has the fastest parry, Stinger and Ivy have a similar, more delayed parry timing, and the Hound type has an inbetween parry.

I - think - the slower veils might have a larger actual window to parry with in compensation for the slower response time, but it could very well be a trick of the mind.

So coming from DS claw is a caestus and stinger a mid shield. Gotcha!

He is correct.

The slower veils like the Ivy and Stinger have a larger window to pick up the parry even if you dont time it perfectly.

The Hound is the inbetwener so you have a bit of a window.

And the Ogre is the fastest one, so with Ogre you have to almost perfectly counter or it wont connect the parry.

Fastest is Ogre. (You must do a perfect parry or nearly that.)

Medium reaction time is Hound. (Seems easy for beginner.)

(the other two below, just only from my opinion while parry only.)

A bit slow is Stinger with good parry window.

Slowest startup is Ivy but with longest parry window.

Although after some testing, Ivy used to have a wider arc parry hitbox like Stinger til latest patch, now the hitbox becomes smaller and can only parry attack from the front.

So the "Widest" (The one that able to parry incoming attack from the side) is now only a Stinger type.

P.S. I'm open for any correction btw.

EDIT#1: After some testing (again) it looks like they move the hitbox to the far front. IIrc in the ancient build version (Now I don't have older version of the game to test) Ivy was able to blocked the Female Knight (with Blade) pointblank teleport horizontal slash spam but now it's not. But it still able to blocked the long range teleport horizontal slash. While Stinger still able to blocked the pointblank spam though.

EDIT#2: After many hours of testing, I found that the problem is character height. I've tested with two different characters char A with default height and default body type and char B with shortest height and body type-C. While char A can parry with no problem, char B (the smaller one) got hit by side attack while parry... and that's it. So if any hardcore player want more challenging stuff by nerfing yourself try smaller character build.

EDIT#3: And again, after many hours of testing. The summary is "Char height affect Ivy parry hitbox" as of patch Xmas2019. Short char wearing Ivy got rekt by female knight teleport spam while gigantic char seems fine to parry.

Interesting, this would give an edge to the slower parrying tools, unlike in DS where the fastest (based on reflexes) tent to be the more reliable.

Keep this convo going! It is super useful for me and other noobs!
