A bit more info would be nice so people can know what to recommend you.

Anyways i'll do my best to do my part.

Assuming you're in your first playthrough:

If you dont have Bridge to Glory then Adrenaline is a very good buff. It lasts pretty long so you dont have to spam it to keep your damagebuff up.
Try to also have a weapon mastery passive gift for the weapon you are using. It greatly increases the damage you do with it if mastered.
And maybe a health boost or something along those lines.

When he does either his ball attack or his dashslashes try to dodge, look for an opening and try to get him to his knee with the heavy attack and follow up with a weapon attackgift like Phantom Assault or the Circulating Pulse or if you're using a 2-handed sword a Dragon Lunge or something like that.

Yakumo is a good companion to have with you just for his sheer damage.
Io is also good, she does decent damage, does ranged attacks aswell plus when you die she can revive you with alot of health back.

Try to get him down a.s.a.p because in his phase 2 he's faster, his combo's are longer AND he has more range and AOE on his slashes plus he does a ranged cross-slash attack.

As for me i used (Prometheus blood code on my first playthrough with Adrenaline and some buffs) but after that once i got it the Queenslayer blood code, Circulating Pulse, Elemental Wall, Bridge to Glory and Final Journey. with a One Handed Sword like the Crimson +10 or Hanemukuro +10, even the Queenslayer Blade works (allthough it's not as strong) Buff yourself and ally, dodge and weave, looks for openings and whale on him is what i did.

I'm on NG+3 or 4 but i think there are more experienced players here that can help you out with a decent build.

I hope this helps you untill someone with more indepth knowledge of builds comes along.

As a sidenote: I use this site to get all my info on builds, weapons etc etc:

I just defeated him with Atlas, a fortified queenslayer greatsword and as many strength passives as I could shove along with casting adrenaline and precision at the beginning of the fight so I could stun him as fast as possible. Managed to stun him twice during the entire fight, the last one being enough to finish him.
I'm on NG by the way.

NG 13 here,

Your best bet is to have as much stamina as possible and never go below half stamina with attacks during down time of his combos.

Valiant Heart and Concentration are optional to decrease further stamina consumption.

Try to defeat him with using a build with Opportunism, venom works.

Queenslayer blood code, Venom weapon (spear or 1 handed sword) + Bloodveil that can resist to slash (like silver garb)

Passive : Opportunism, Mastery, Swift Destruction...
Active : Mark of venom, Bridge to glory, final journey,
Circulating Pulse...

with these passive you already gain 60% of raw damages, final journey increases your weapon's scaling by 66%.

Cheers guys, I've come close, so might just visit the depths for a bit and try a few more builds. If not I could always try my 1st real human ally I suppose.
