Banning Dark Souls Controls in PS4 demo. Assume here too.
In the ps4 demo of Code Vein one is able to assign all buttons to do most things .. EXCEPT Dark souls controls..

R1 can be set to light atack.. But if you try to set heavy attack to R2 .. No go.
Same with the Square button on a PS4 controller, which is "use item" in a dark souls game... trying to move use item to it does not work.. it can be set to other buttons though .. Just not the one that dark souls uses..

If they can "hommage" a whole game concept without any shame.. They might as well "hommage" the controller layoit as well without showing something weird down our throatrs..

Does Bamco realise some of us have spent thousands of hours in these souls games?

R1/R2 is the big one for me.. The chance they change it, removing the limitation is pretty small imho I'm not even going to provide feedback on social media.

Can you rebind any other command to R2? It might just be a bug. Either way I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in the world who played DS with a KB/M so lucky me I guess.

I understand where you're coming from. first thing I did was try to do the same with the controls but yea they cant be changed. but trust me you get used to the default controls fast.

You call it what you want, being forced to fire with your forehead on the spacebar when playing an fps will make your customers say "♥♥♥♥ this, i'm playing something else."

If it smells like ♥♥♥♥, looks like ♥♥♥♥ , tastes like ♥♥♥♥ it can indeed just be very smelly clay, when stuck on the bottom of your shoe the name is the least of your problems.

Don't you think it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up you _can_ change everything else though.. You just can't make it play like dark souls..
Should be possible to reassign controls using the steam overlay, at least. Not that its an excuse, but a silver lining

It's lame... But as said you do get used to it fast.

Either way I ain't gonna let such a simple thing ruin the game for me.

You *can* configure Dark Souls style controls. The restriction is that you have to have the "gift" button configure to one of the shoulder buttons. Get the default off of R2 (I set it to L2) and you are free to set R2 to heavy attack.

I'll have a closer look at that.

And using an item with X/Square?

That did it. Even X/Square works

So the key is to remap "Gift" and the gesture menu first... which are in those locations..

It plays pretty wel now with dodge/roll/black/item Deavy/light at thir usual spots.

Thank you for figuring it out. KnightBaron
