Buffs scale with Dark/light?
I am watching a guy who tried to be a caster sort of character, even with A in mind and willpower buffs still last hilariously short.

Is this game like gothic 1 and 2, where STR is the only viable build? in that game you build around STR and everything dies in 1 hit, seems the same concept is here.

I'm not sure about scaling buffs (If they do it probably isn't duration that does) but being a caster in this game is completely viable, I've had no problem melting through bosses.

There are buffs that scale, but in intensity, not duration. There is a buff that increases the duration of other buffs though, I think.
Spellcasting is most OP in this game. Especially with a meatshield companion and a cooperating player.

Dark Mage is probably the most powerful build in the damage in terms of the damage they can ditch out. If you need longer buff use Gift Extension, seriously tho, you don't even need a single buff for mage build, you only need dark shout for spell buff.

spells are super awesome here, esp in late game

Also in ghotic 2 spells were OP too esp firestorm spellcaster only struggled early game before you got good runes and so it is here too

gothic 1 had different problem by the time you got a spellcaster class you already leveled warrior skills quite a bit so every mage was in fact mage-warrior build

I think a Buff\Light + Final Journey is the most powerful build. But is only for boss, since Journey last for max 60 seconds(Not 100% sure) and after that you just die. Also a light mage build is strong, since you can hit multiple times with the barrage.

For mobs, dark mage build, STR build and Halberd are all more than viable.

I heard it's 3 mins for final journey 4.5 with gift extension.
Yep, it's 3 mins. Just saw the build on Fextralife video.
buffs might gain scaling, but if so its by such a small amount that you wont notice. spamming projectiles is where its at tho, as som spells have an almost instant cat time and without buffs on a light/dark build of say 1200, will hit for about 5k on just about everything.

You can increase your melee weapons ichor drain with gifts and weapon transforms. This makes it viable to buff before an encounter, then make back the ichor you spent on the buff during the encounter.
You can combo 30k+ damage in 1 burst as a caster from what i've seen in videos.

I did some testing with four different light buffs and none of them scaled in duration or power with light gift rating. I would not be surprised if this was the same for most if not all of them.

"Gift extension" is only a part of the deluxe edition ? You can't get it an other way ?

Most buffs do not scale. I've personally confirmed that Adrenaline, Overdrive, Final Journey, and all Elemental Weapon buffs have ZERO scaling based on stats. They are all flat percentage bonuses, 10%, 25%, 50%, and 20% respectively (though elemental weapon only multiplies non-element damage). They also have fixed durations of 3 minutes, 1.5 minutes, 3 minutes, and 30 seconds respectively. Gift Extension adds 50% to all durations.

Bridge to Glory doesn't appear to scale, but its percentages change dramatically depending on which weapon you use. With Iceblood I had 84.8% boost, with Executioner I got 63.5%, and with Judgement Edge it was only 30.8%.

That's because Bridge of Glory is a flat amount. It adds 50% of your current Gift (Light). So it benefits super fast weapons a lot.
