odd? a lot of games rated like 60-something have very positive or overwhelmingly positive reviews on steam. you must be new here.

Nothing new, really. I own tons of games that score in the 50's on Metacritic, but is ridiculously positive on Steam. Same can be said for any other review site, their opinions are usually a huge contrast to what majority of gamers think (at the risk of my SJW tinfoil hat, I'll just say that reviewers love to point out any minor flaw like a slight frame drop, harmless glitch or even graphics that will dock off points, usually stuff that most of us won't notice or care too much about).

Believe the Steam reviews. The game isn't perfect but it's way better than those metacritic reviews make it out to be.

I say the game is 7/10 or a 8/10. The reason most people gave it a "ok" review is if you strip the anime art and anime stuff out. It is just a normal souls like game. Really i seen games with (WAY) way more ♥♥♥♥♥♥ or fan service in the past so i really do not see how that could be the games only selling point

Check the steam forums, facebook, youtube, probably twitter, anywhere where normal people reside and you'll find that the majority of people really like this game.

No one will say the game is flawless, but almost everyone will have positive things to say other than the character creation.

I mean, on metacritic we have score of 95 and score of 40.

Usually, people that played souls and title similar gave an 80 or more. Others, 70 or less. Like IGN main concern was that companion wasn't strong enough.

I mean I try to be open-minded about this sort of thing, and let's face it Io's outfit is a bit of a surprise when you're running about the frozen mountains, but that RPS reviewer getting all worked up about Yakumo's 'sheep to look after' line? Especially given that one of said 'sheep' is the PC who could quite possibly be a guy anyway? Talk about taking something out of context and then hammering it into the shape you need to fit your agenda.
