Should I pick this game? Does it have a good story?

Without much spoilers is the story any good? I am planning to pick this up but I can't decide since gameplay doesn't seem that very innovative from other hack n' slash games, but if the story is good I might give it a go.

Go for it, its slightly similar to Dark Souls, has a decent story and has a boatloads of builds you can try.

The story is actually good if you care about digging into it. But the cutscenes are pretty bad, so bad that actually add an involuntary comedy side in some occasion. Voice Acting is not the best.

Overall, the story itself, is not bad. I disagree with people calling it "too anime". How is presented is really anime, of course, but not the story itself. And I strongly disagree with people that say is "too obvious".

go read comics or fantasy fiction or watch anime if you care about this type of story, this is a video game and you will be spending your hours playing the game not enjoying the story

The storytelling is significantly better than other soulslike games, especially if you go out of your way to collect Vestige pieces.

Story is incredible cant speak for the english va but the japanese voice acting is amazing. Typically i think japanese voices and eng sub is the best way to play jrpgs like this but if u dont like subs dont force yourself and as i said the story is great amazing writing

If you watch Anime, or at least remotely watch a fair amount of it, you'll understand what's happening early on in the story.

If you're talking about like The "Wittcher" story, or Dragon Age story.... Nope... this is not your game.

The story is your typical out of this world "Anime" story telling. Nothing that happens in this story could ever happen in the real world, nor would it ever relate to a "Fantasy" type world either, such as "Lord of the Rings".

What you get from this story, is basically your typical Anime type generic story.

-You start here....
-Sh_t that's not explained all to well goes on
-You fix thus said Sh-t and move on
-The end.

The only diff here, is there's 3 diff endings, I've only found 2/3 of them myself personally, but each one was... Interesting, I won't say it blew my mind, it's much of what I expected, coming from an Anime stand point.

In my honest opinion, this story beats the hell out of what ever you're trying to figure out in Demon/Dark/Blooborne, where the story is very vague, and it's up to you to judge how it plays out.

I wouldn't mind a continuation of Code Vein. The "Good" ending kind leaves it much like any other Anime, on a Cliffhanger, and leaves you wanting more. Of course that's my opinion.

You'd honestly have to play it to find out. Or at least watch some videos.

It's not hack'n'slash, actually. Some brain still needed. As fan turn based jrpg, i like story. There is main story and side flashbacks from another characters.
