its not like casters are incapable of doing any melee
I'm helping out as good as I can using melee weapons all things considered.
Sadly this game doesn't have proper ranged magic combat system forcing going into melee to get mana.. utter bollocks.
Atlas code?
He telegraphs his attacks well, so you'll learn to dodge them fairly fast. Get aggro and let your companion dish out some damage. Stop attacking him and dodge until the aggro goes to your companion if you need to heal.
The usual way I take down bosses who aren't super fast is to attack 1-3 times and wait for their attack so I can dodge through it.
you can always buy a ton of ichor vials and use them so you never have to get close.
theres also a poison ability on the darkseeker tree that'll give you ichor if the target is posioned.
I also got an ability that lets me thro daggers to get ichor
Where? The town seller ran out of them.
you can shred his ass solo in 30 seconds tops, just summon someone if you need a safety belt on your third wheeler.
EDIT: you could also use Io since her spells do massive amounts of damage and she can pretty much solo most bosses herself :/ kinda hoping they nerf npcs as they're too good most of the time but sometimes their AI craps out :')
1) My spells were not doing 200 damage (whereas bloodshot does indeed do 200+ damage lol)
2) "parry the ♥♥♥♥ outta him"
I don't parry in games coz I suck at parrying. I dodge.
3) "due to low stamina " my stamina is fine. though
and my +6 bayonet does 680 damage, not bad for a quick mobility weapon.
4)"kinda hoping they nerf npcs "
finally a game where your companions are not useless and they already want to nerf them
Don't play with them then or select the ones that suck, like Mia =) She does pitiful damage and dies fast.
technically it's not stamina but the rate at which stamina is consumed which is worse for casters, the 200 damage thing was more of an example, and when i fought that boss (using prometheus) bloodshot was doing about 500 or so damage using a C+ scaling weapon, "I can't parry" git gud, nuff said. theres a pretty big difference between npcs being feasible combatants and them just straight up being better than you, for example, the point where you unlock Io her frost spell can do 1.8k damage to most enemies and about 1.2k to bosses neutral to ice, at that point in the game you aren't doing that much damage with spells unless you're going pure caster, at which point Io is still way better than you since she's fairly tanky, can buff her defence and does decent melee damage. and on the point of mia, whilst she isn't the greatest npc by any means, she isn't bad it's just that you're literally the worst pair, two "squishy" people, she's probs tanking most of the damage for you since the npcs are basically designed to act like meat shields hence why yakumo and Io are as good as they are, Io will launch off her two main spells, buff herself and facetank for you and pretty much full heal you if you somehow die, yakumo is just a beefy boi and keeps the enemies attention and due to using a heavy weapon staggers enemies often making them fodder. honestly, weapon damage for casters (outside of the scaling and base bonuses to gifts) are kinda eh, the weapon is mainly there for ichor, statuses, stat scaling and chip damage (tho if the boss is staggered the charged drain attack is typically better since you can get that off and a few hits before bosses fully recover and get a massive chunk of ichor). and as i said before, casters have one of the safest and easiest ways to kill bosses with or without npcs helping them, tho the fact that you don't get access to good caster gear until so late in the game sucks in all honesty.
I've never liked melee gameplay, in fact I HATE melee gameplay. I've always loved magic and ranged characters. I always play casters in any crpg, action rpg etc if possible.. ever since early 1980s games (DnD goldenbox series)
Why should I "git gud" at something I hate? It simply won't work.
I'll get by using other means
