I'm also struggling with this. I really want the game but I don't want to support denuvo. This one in particular is testing my resolve.
well, that's not really a risk i can afford to take, moneywise.
So I question how much of that risk is there.
this part particularly stands out to me as skeevy. they're saying denuvo keeps files on your computer, even if you uninstall the game.
@efesell
it's been purported, and mentioned on wikipedia, that denuvo makes a lot of write operations. like, a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. this can harm SSDs.
even if denuvo doesn't actually harm my computer, i'm not going to go around playing craps with the most expensive thing i own.
there's also no financial incentive for denuvo to make sure their DRM /doesn't/ harm computers.
unless conclusive evidence is presented that denuvo cannot harm my computer, it's not a risk i, as a consumer, am willing to take.
Doesn't mean I'm gonna live my life being afraid of a bogeyman though.
Denuvo had all these problems OP mentioned and more in earlier builds, but I'm pretty sure most of them have been ironed out at this stage, and the only real concerns at this point are 1) the occasional bad implementations and 2) inability to access the game offline for a prolonged amount of time.
Yeah, the thing that bothers me is that you technically don't own the game. I'm sure it's unlikely, but if they ever shut down their servers or I couldn't access the internet, I can't play the game I purchased and supposedly own.
And that's the other side that's tempting me so much to buy this. On one hand I have my morals, on the other life's short and I want to play a fun video game I've been looking forward to for years. =/
