Bayonet main + solo run over here and i never got any problem with this weapon. Most of the time i carry 2 type of bayone (1 single target + Riot for AOE).

I just wish that secondary had longer range. I mean ♥♥♥♥ the guy is like 20 feet away and the bullet basically goes through him, but apparently not.

The main use of the bayonet is like a catalyst or a wand for spell casters and ranged users.
They have high willpower stats for boosting your gifts.
This means the main use of bayonets is 'draining' targets to stock up ichor and unleashing them with your gifts.

They are best used in multiplayer sessions mainly because enemies gets a bit stronger and tankier, and boss fights can hit you REALLY hard (poledancer boss especially hits you hard below lv30 and can almost 1 hit kill you if your defense is really low).

Most people still don't realize there's a subset of moves you can do with certain weapons and quick drain helps you farm ichor capacity against trash mobs.

For instance if you have a strong enough stagger weapon like 1h sword, spear, or axe, generally you can pull a quick drain attack mid-combo to give youself +1 ichor capacity. Since it does less damage than usual you could potentially find a tough but slow enemy and combo+drain them repeatingly to get more ichor capacity than backstabbing one.

how do you shoot the weapon? is it just me or is the control just clunky? I can preform light, strong, combo and mid drain combos attack but unable to shoot a pebble out of the weapon? what am i doing wrong??

Bayonet is really good, but its Blood Code and useful gifts can be unlock after midgame.
Im at lv 60 and running Artemis Code with Bayonet and my gunshot deal 2400+ dmg close range and Freezing Roar deal up to 6000 per hit.
I remembered running a magic fight with Cathedral doggo boss, since both of us took about 4 hits~ from each others to be KO.

PS. the build heavily relies on Ichor though, if its empty you are semi-useless.

shooting is strong attack, hold it for charged shot.

Sunset Bayonet is the long range shot. You want to be using that if you want to shoot from a distance. Just understand you aren't going to be sniping from across the map with it. Pay attention to what your Bayonet scales with. You would think that 'Ranger' Blood Code would do the most damage seeing as it is the gunning class but because of the scaling on the Sunset Bayonet also including Mind and Willpower, you'll find that 'Caster' Blood Code offers the most damage. Always pay attention to what the weapon scales with. Even though its a gun, its scaling demands that you need to respond with the appropriate blood code to bring out the best in the weapon.
