Controller not working?

I'm using a controller plugged into my PC, but i can't navigate the menus with it, do i just have to wait until i get in game for it to work or something?

What controller are you using? I'm using a ps4 controller and it was plug and play for me. It seems to natively support all controllers (modern ones) so it might be on your end.

im using an xbox controller, it works with every steam game i try it on usually, i play MHW and borderlands and stuff with it, i use it on the daily

My xbox 360 controller isn't working as well.

I'm using DS4 and it's not working. My controller works when i press buttons in big picture mode but the game isnt registering anything.

Ok so I went to the properties on the game and forced Steam input per game on. Then I turned on DS4 windows app. My pad works now.

Having the same issue with an Xbox One controller. Connected a PS3 controller by usb and it works. Kind of annoying that the controller it has prompts for doesnt work.
